🌍 World AIDS Day 2024 🌟 Today, on World AIDS Day, we come together to honor those we've lost, support those living with HIV, and reaffirm our commitment to ending the stigma and the epidemic. This year's theme,“𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵: 𝗠𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, 𝗺𝘆 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁!” reminds us that our fight against HIV/AIDS is not only medical; it's also social and economic. 🩺 About 39.9 million people worldwide are living with HIV. 💉 Advancements in treatment and prevention, like PrEP and U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable), have transformed what it means to live with HIV. 🤔 Stigma and health disparities remain barriers to progress, particularly in underserved communities. Let's ask ourselves 2 questions: ❔What role can we play in creating inclusive spaces for people living with HIV? ❔How can we educate ourselves and others to reduce myths and biases? Change begins with awareness and action! #WorldAIDSDay #EndHIV #EquityAndResilience #HealthForAll #HealthEquity

On World AIDS Day, we highlight the urgent need to address the intersection of gender-based violence (GBV) and HIV. Women and girls, especially in diverse and marginalized communities, face a higher risk of violence and HIV due to systemic inequalities and lack of access to care. To truly break the cycle of violence and end the HIV epidemic, we must prioritize their rights, health, and agency. By fostering empowerment, ensuring equitable access to healthcare, and challenging harmful norms, we can create a future where every individual can live free from fear, harm, and discrimination. This World AIDS Day, join us in advocating for change, because ending GBV and inequality is essential to defeating HIV. #WorldAIDSDay #16DaysOfActivism #EndGBV #EmpowerWomen #HIVAwareness #Flexiblemechnism #Safe #RE:BUiLD

It is devastating to observe that stigma and discrimination against persons living with HIV persist in spite of medical progress and the fact that HIV is no longer a death sentence. In addition to helping those who are living with HIV, it is imperative that we seek to eradicate this stigma in order to foster a more accepting and caring society. By lowering stigma, we can make it easier for people to get tested and receive treatment, which will eventually make the world a healthier and more just place for everybody. On this World AIDS Day, let's talk about safety—physical, emotional, and sexual—and how we can support those navigating HIV or health concerns with knowledge, compassion, and empowerment. 💖 As affirmative therapists, we can help our clients think about the safety they deserve. Here are some ways to approach it: 🔹 Normalize the Conversation: Create a safe, judgment-free space where clients can discuss their worries about health, relationships, and well-being. 🔹 Educate on HIV: Teach about HIV transmission, prevention (like PrEP), and the importance of regular testing and treatment, including U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable). Knowledge is power! 🔹 Boundaries & Consent: Empower clients to set boundaries and practice clear, informed consent. They have the right to feel respected and safe in every relationship. ✋ 🔹 Address Stigma: Help clients develop strategies to cope with stigma and discrimination. HIV/AIDS is not the death sentence it was in the 80s. Center care and community 🌈 Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and empowered. Let’s continue to break the stigma, educate, and create spaces of healing. 🌟💪 #WorldAIDSDay #AffirmativeTherapists #HIVAware #EndTheStigma #MentalHealthMatters #Empowerment #SafeSpaces #BoundariesAndConsent #UequalsU #PrEP #SexualHealthEducation

🌍 World AIDS Day: Take the Rights Path 🌍 The world has the power to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 – but only if everyone’s rights are protected. The fight against HIV has shown that progress is possible when human rights are at the centre and communities lead the way. From strengthening health systems to realising the right to health, advancements in the HIV response have sparked broad positive changes. Yet, gaps in human rights and increasing attacks on these rights threaten to derail the progress. To end AIDS, we must reach and support everyone affected by HIV, especially those who have been marginalised or excluded. Let’s defend rights, eliminate stigma and create a healthy, more inclusive future for all. Together, we can "Take the Rights Path" to end AIDS. 🌎️ #WorldAIDSDay #EndAIDS #TakeTheRightsPath #HIVAwareness #EqualHealthForAll #Soroptimist #soroptimistgbi #soroptimistinternational #soroptimistchaguanas #Soroptimists #soroptimistinternationalglobal

In 2023, an estimated 39.9 million people were living with HIV globally. Tragically, 630,000 people died from HIV-related causes, and 1.3 million people were newly infected with HIV. On this year’s World AIDS Day, WHO joins partners and communities to commemorate the day under the theme: “Take the rights path: My health, my right!” WHO is calling on global leaders and citizens to champion the right to health by addressing the inequalities that hinder progress in ending AIDS. Together, we can create a world where health is a right for all. On 1st December, we come together to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, support those living with the virus, and remember those we've lost. It is a day to reflect, educate, and continue the fight against stigma and discrimination. 💡 Get tested. Stay informed. Show compassion.
