from MAGA to MEGA, but who’s leading the charge? I’m seeing more hackathons popping up in europe lately, maybe even a higher wave of builder energy. Bela Wiertz & {Tech: Berlin} just wrapped up a 2-day hackathon. I love seeing that kind of momentum here, because usually, it feels like we’re stuck in slow-motion compared to the bay area. sure, it’s not yet near the volume of events you’d find in sf, but it’s a start. if Europe wants to be “mega,” we need more of these gatherings—hackathons, meetups, weekend build sprints, etc. anything that gets devs, founders, and dreamers together to do real stuff, not just talk. great to see ppl stepping up and organizing these regularly. that’s how you build a thriving community, by giving people a place to meet, experiment, and show off what they’re working on. hopefully we’ll see more initiatives like Bela & tech berlin. i’m cheering for anyone willing to make Europe a true builder hub. what do you think? are we seeing the early spark of something bigger, or is it just a passing blip? would love your thoughts.

🚀 A Year of Success 🚀 They say the first year of a startup is unpredictable, and for us at Whir, that couldn’t be more true. What started as two friends in Kansas City looking for cheap beer in 2023 has transformed into a growing business—and a platform we're proud to call our own. 📖 Read the full story of Whir's first year, the lessons we learned, and the incredible support we received along the way. Discover how we’ve redefined success for ourselves and set our sights on even bigger goals for 2025. 👉 Check out the article here: https://lnkd.in/gMz2Uv56 From late-night coding sessions and feature-packed sprints to battling Apple’s App Store approval labyrinth (anyone else have nightmares about the review process?), our journey has been equal parts challenging and exhilarating. And guess what? We made it. Whir is live, helping users find the best local deals and connecting us with the incredible Kansas City business community. 🎉 Highlights of our year include: Building our app from scratch—Transforming an idea into a fully functioning app, and overcoming countless challenges along the way. Getting our app approved for App Store distribution. Signing up our first users and watching Whir come to life in local bars, breweries, and restaurants. Connecting with Kansas City’s vibrant entrepreneur scene and meeting mentors, visionaries, and supporters who share our drive. Looking back, success is all about redefining what it means at every step—and making sure we have fun along the way. Thank you to our friends, families, users, and businesses who’ve supported us through this wild ride. 🥂 Here’s to an even bigger 2025. ➡️ About a year ago, I started a local networking venture in Houston with my partners called "Chai and Share". Our mission was to forge connections with entrepreneurs from tech start-ups to D2C to e-com and candidly share our journey, including our triumphs and challenges. Here's my one-year journey wrapped: > Transitioned from park meet-ups to organized hotel gatherings > Created a platform for sharing entrepreneurial experiences > Realized the potential of networking while working remotely > Built a community of like-minded individuals > Witnessed the power of shared learning and knowledge > Expanded our reach beyond local boundaries > Fostered a culture of collaboration, not competition I'm sure there were many more milestones, but these were the key highlights. 🌟 This journey will always hold a special place in my heart. 🙋🏽♂️ Can't wait to see what the future has in store for "Chai and Share". How have you fostered networking and community-building in this new normal? PS. Sharing a fantastic snapshot of our community from our recent event last week with CEO of Whelp Seymur RASULOV.

Fair effort to go from VIC/SYD/QLD/TAS over to WA for West Tech Fest, but it is so worth it, for any Easties considering next year onwards. They sold it out completely as of yesterday, so kudos to the organisers once again. Conferences, especially something of this magnitude, in a 'smaller' market to build a technology company, are not easy to do. At all. Luckily, they have some supporters who love what they're doing, like yours truly, who'll return multiple times per year, and get immersed even more in the *whats-actually-going-on-behind-the-scenes* stuff. Some absolutely insane(ly good) companies being built over here. And a lot of support wrapped around them from the various groups, to scale, whether interstate, or internationally. The Minister for Innovation Stephen Dawson just floating around the whole time, chatting to everyone - it's the sign of a very charged and prosperous ecosystem. NSW & VIC Gov especially, take note. You could absolutely learn a thing or two. As is to be expected, I've floated in over the Nullarbor as an agent of chaos, storytelling about GROUP GROUP and capital strategy and brand-building with hands flailing all over the place, whilst reporting for SmartCompany, and it seems that more are joining the GROUP in '25, and I'm only 2 days in. You see, it's the merch, to start. I reel them in with my custom western shirt 'WEST WEST' and then BAM! We are cooking with Gaz. Today, I'll be at the Freo Startup Fest, after I've done basically a full days work thanks to the time difference. Extremely convenient! My rascally nature means that I'll also bring a little humour with me, as I poke fun at the startup industry (healthy cynicism ) and remind any and all Fremantle Dockers supporters out there that they have zero premierships, still. (Carlton has 16) Congrats again on the milestone of selling out tmrw's Main Day to achieve a full strikecard Danelle Cross, Kali Norman, Sarah Kahle, Paula Taylor, Rohan McDougall, Bill Tai and all the many people that contribute a hell of a lot of hard work with hands, to make it such a welcoming experience for people like I. Yours in GROUP-ness ✌
