Now this is what the Tokyo startup ecosystem needs, along with VCs to fund it, more than anything else to really become a global startup ecosystem. The Japanese market can become too comfortable at times, even for startups, so that going global gets put on the back burner or even set aside. Comfortable does not mean "easy" by any means, it means that lifestyles can be comfortable, especially in Tokyo. Starting up is hard and competition is fierce, but the cost of living is reasonable compared to Silicon Valley, for example. By establishing a practical, scaling up program like Global Hypergrowth for later stage startups, early stage founders have a real growth target and it makes going global more "real."
