This new study from EdWeek Market Brief keeps repeating one of my biggest pet peeves in the #professionaldevelopment landscape. In a survey on "in person" and "virtual" #pd, they keep using the verb "delivered" to describe a professional development experience. You can't "deliver" development. It isn't a package. It's an ongoing, iterative process. Anybody who is "delivering" #professionallearning to #schools isn't worth the time or money. It doesn't matter if it's in person or virtual. https://lnkd.in/gc2XVPd2 #schoolleadership #schoolleaders #educationalleadership Sibme

Professional learning should not be delivered--it is not a Fed Ex package.

Teachers "prefer to learn at their own pace" through online professional development, but they also want to "chew on the information with other people who have gone through the same thing" in face-to-face training. So explains a Minnesota school district administrator, talking about the mix of virtual vs. in-person of PD he wants. In a new story in EdWeek Market Brief, Emma Kate Fittes and I look at at the results of a survey the EdWeek Research Center conducted for us on the balance of online vs. in-person PD school districts are using now -- and what they predict the mix will be 5 years from now. #edtech #professionaldevelopment. https://rebrand.ly/p7px40n

It never crossed my mind to email a ninth grader because I always assumed Mallory Willsea's takeaway was true 😂. When someone requests a mass email or event promo, my first question is always: Why should your audience care? It's surprising how this simple question can either inspire reflection or resistance. Here's the hard truth: just because something matters to you doesn't mean it'll resonate with them. That's where personalization comes in. Dig deep into what truly matters to your audience, and let that be the compass for your messaging. Can't wait to tune into this podcast series! Props to Enrollify for consistently delivering content that keeps me coming back.
