🌟 Excited to share about publishing my first research article. As part of my last semester project in BIT Mesra, I wrote a research thesis titled 'Statistical Analysis Of Successive Over-relaxation method' under the guidance of Dr Soubhik Chakraborty, Department of Mathematics, BIT Mesra which is a numerical approximation technique widely used in mathematical applications. I would like to thank my guide for helping me understand the importance of implementing different probability distributions on a numerical technique which helped me uncover it's mechanisms and how it works. Our research article has been published as a book chapter in the IIP book series titles ,"Futuristic Trends in Contemporary Mathematics and Applications Volume 3 Book 2", page numbers 203-219. #Mathematics #Statistics #NumericalTechnique #ProbabilityDistribution

Celebrating 60 years of Mathematics Today! Mathematics Today (MT), originally named the IMA Bulletin, has been a valued membership benefit since its first issue in March 1965. To celebrate our anniversary, we are making a selection of interesting articles from our archive available online. These articles have been chosen by IMA members and MT readers, who introduce their favourite MT articles and explain why they are important to them. These nine articles are on topics that continue to be relevant to today’s mathematicians. They span 1971 to 2016 and include a broad range of topics, such as numerical analysis, education, animal flight, Stokes phenomenon, Rubik’s cubes, the Enigma machine, Kalman filters and Bayesian statistics in the courtroom. One of the articles, ‘Aerodynamic Aspects of Animal Flight’, is written by the IMA’s first president, Sir James Lighthill (1924–1998), and there are also articles on his work in this issue to celebrate 100 years since his birth. To read the nine articles now available on the IMA website, visit the Mathematics Today and Bulletin Archive. https://lnkd.in/e4GVrR9F #mathematics #mathematician #mathematicstoday

💡The Biggest Problem in Mathematics Is Finally a Step Closer to Being Solved 「 Proving this conjecture would provide mathematicians with nothing less than a kind of “periodic table of numbers.” Just as the basic building blocks of matter (such as quarks, electrons and photons) help us to understand the universe and our world, prime numbers also play an important role, not just in number theory but in almost all areas of mathematics 」 #RiemannHypothesis #Math #Research

I was never able to appreciate the beauty of mathematics when I was in school. I in no way hold my mentors responsible for that. I am the one to blame. However, I'm not here to discuss this. The truth is that, as a student of life sciences, my enthusiasm for practicing mathematics grows stronger as I delve more into the STEM domains. Mathematics is the song whose lyrics I've never been able to understand. However, I do now, and I adore it completely. I could chew on maths all day long without growing exhausted. #maths #mathematics #biomaths #statistics #biostatistics

✒ Why is mastering mathematics so important? 1) Mathematics is a crucial subject that serves as a foundation for various subjects such as physics, chemistry, 💻 computer science, engineering, economics, and biology. 2) It is a language of 🔬 science and technology that enhances career opportunities in finance, data science, engineering, computer programming, and statistics. 3) Mathematics fosters critical 🤔 thinking, logical reasoning, and cognitive 🧠 development, improving memory, attention to detail, and abstract reasoning. ✒What role does mathematics play in artificial intelligence (AI) research and development? i)Crucial for algorithm development and problem-solving. Uses calculus, linear algebra, and probability theory. ii)Useful in data representation, optimization, statistics, probability, and machine learning model training. Includes graph theory, information theory, functional analysis, differential equations, and complexity theory 22, December, 2023 – Is the Day of National Significance? 🖋 December 22, 2023, is National Mathematics Day in India, marking the birth anniversary of the famous mathematician Sir. Srinivasa Ramanujan. 🖋Ramanujan, also known as the 'Man Who Knew Infinity', did not receive any formal education in mathematics but made significant contributions to the field. His passion for mathematics led him to fail in all subjects except for math. 🖋Ramanujan's mathematical achievements include finding an infinite series formula for π, an analytical theory of numbers, elliptic functions, a partition function, and knowing about infinity. 🖋Happy National Mathematics Day to all! 🖋Ramanujan Quote: “AN EQUATION FOR ME HAS NO MEANING UNLESS IT REPRESNETS A THOUGHT OF GOD “ HAPPY NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY TO ALL! Sir Ramanujan's elegant and significant mathematical legacy is shown in this 🎦 video. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking Mathematician wins 2024 Abel prize for making sense of randomness The 2024 Abel Prize has been awarded to a mathematician whose groundbreaking work has illuminated the elusive nature of randomness. This researcher developed new frameworks to understand complex random processes, providing insights into areas like financial markets, weather patterns, and even the behavior of particles at the quantum level. By creating models that make sense of seemingly chaotic systems, the mathematician has helped bridge gaps between pure mathematics and real-world applications. Their work has transformed probability theory, particularly with the development of techniques to handle “noisy” data that traditional models could not accurately describe. This achievement impacts fields as diverse as machine learning, statistical physics, and economics. Celebrated as one of the highest honors in mathematics, the Abel Prize recognizes not only the technical brilliance of this work but also its profound contributions to science, allowing us to better navigate and predict the randomness all around us.
