Across Europe's diverse landscapes, where age-old traditions meet modern technologies, farming is facing a myriad of challenges and opportunities that are reshaping the way farmers operate and the food they produce. 🌱🚜 “Every farm, every region, every climate, and every soil have its own specific needs, criteria, and cultural context. For large players in the value chain, there needs to be space to make regional specific changes”, says Howard Koster, Farmer, Research & Education Officer, De Biesterhof. 🌾 Collectively, we can build a more sustainable and #RegenerativeFoodSystem for future generations. As consumers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, we all have a role to play in supporting the transition to a more sustainable and resilient agricultural future – in Europe and beyond. 🌍 From policy and innovation to profitability and consumer demand, here we explore the key examples and the solutions that require greater support: https://lnkd.in/dWM_Hfnm #FoodSystem #RegenerativeAgriculture #ImprovingFoodTogether #FutureOfFood

Delighted to inform you that I have been asked to join the World Agriculture Forum, initiated by Prof. Dr. Rudy Rabbinge, and many other world leaders. THE VISION The World Agriculture Forum envisions a transformative future where global agriculture is defined by boundless innovation, dynamic growth, unparalleled productivity, and unwavering sustainability. Yesterday's National Farmers' Federation Leaders' Summit reiterated several recocurring themes being discussed by stakeholders across the food supply chain. 🚜Technology & Innovation: Digital technology is a game-changer for #productivity in agriculture and continuous innovation is essential to enhance farming practices and increase efficiency. 💪🏼 Sovereign Capabilities: Strengthening our sovereign capabilities, particularly in #biosecurity and domestic #fertiliser production, will help safeguard the agricultural sector from external threats and dependencies, ensuring resilience and sustainability. 🔀Market Access and Transparency: Improving market access and utilising technology to enhance #transparency between agriculture, consumers, and sustainability efforts are necessary steps to build trust in the supply chain and ensure that sustainable practices are recognised and rewarded. 🌱Sustainable Collaboration: To reach global emissions targets a collective effort is necessary. We need to pool resources and share knowledge to reduce the cost burden associated with shifting to more #sustainable practices. 📣 Communication Strategy: We need to reach beyond the echo chamber to engage diverse audiences and share the positive story of Australian agriculture more widely. We have passionate people who are proud of their contributions and it’s vital we effectively build the Australian Ag brand domestically and internationally. A special shoutout to Elizabeth Brennan for masterfully steering the event as the MC, guiding us through the agenda with race car precision! 🏎️

Happy to announce the publication of the Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU) latest reports: the #FutureFit series, that I've worked on with many amazing colleagues, including Kitty Parker Brooks Alex Andreoli Natasha Mawdsley Talia Smith Elinor Newman-Beckett Luke Pritchard Kate Newbury-Hyde Elizabeth Petykowski Abel Hemmelder Christine Delivanis Liz Kirk Morgan Gillespy Alexandre L'Heureux Agriculture & land-use-change emissions within company value chains account for nearly half of global food system emissions (10 out of 21 GtCO2e by 2030). To mitigate these emissions, companies must work together with farmers, governments and investors to develop and implement roadmaps that deliver transparent and sustainable food systems. A critical first step is understanding the costs and benefits of the transition and creating transparency on the relative ability of different actors to contribute to the costs and share in the benefits. https://lnkd.in/giWbTx8S #FutureFit Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU) WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development We Mean Business Coalition

"People are disconnected from food in the broader sense – often not knowing where and how their food is produced or by whom" ~Mark Horler, UK Urban Agritech’s (UKUAT) Founder and Chairman. The above quote from Mark Horler resonates with me; so much so that I felt moved to republish his recent interview with The Innovation Platform about how #UrbanFarming is supporting sustainability in agriculture: https://lnkd.in/gkFp8-WH A lot of great insights here!

Two weeks ago, RFSI held our first in-person RFSI Europe event in Brussels – where we gathered 275 diverse agriculture, food, and investment stakeholders. From farmers, to start-ups, to food companies, to funders and investors, we filled two days with robust conversation around how to build regenerative food systems, the investment case for regenerative agriculture, where and how capital can play an enabling role, and the other ingredients that are necessary to expand the positive societal impacts of food systems transformation. The insights were plentiful and here we share nine key take aways from the gathering ➪ https://lnkd.in/gAGFY5tT #RFSIEurope #RFSIEurope24 #regenerativeagriculture #regenerativefarming #investing #investment #funders #farmers
