We have a new season of live audio described performances across 2024-2025 at the Royal Ballet and Opera. Dates to announced soon. As part of the developing Access project the team have been exploring the incorporation of Audio Description in promotional videos. Linked to this post is a YouTube video featuring a 23 second season launch trailer with Audio Description placed over the soundtrack. This is just an initial step, as we move to more integrated processes in collaboration with our Audio Describers and artists. As someone who trained as an Audio Describer, it’s such an insightful process to explore audio description inclusion across new functions and teams. It opens rich conversations about what is useful information, what is assumed and how biases can quickly surface but also be challenged. A small movement forward, but hopefully the start of laying the foundations for long lasting Accessibility. #RoyalBalletOpera #Access #AudioDescription YouTube thumbnail ID. A dancer lifts another, small in perspective against a cosmic iris like circle that fills the backdrop of the stage. The words imagination, inspiration and experience appear, centred with the words 'audio described' placed in the top right corner. "Opera Ballet Theatre" is a design project performed as a rebranding task. During the ideation of the concept, various theater terminology and ballet movements were thought of as a logo. However, taking into account that many fields of art are united here (theatre, music, clothing, stage decoration etc.), being satisfied with a specific figure might not be a successful result. As the famous Anna Pavlova, who devoted her life to this field, said: "Ballet is difficult to express, so we just dance." A typographic logo, a modern concept method, was used here, avoiding expressing all the art fields and the feelings experienced during the dance in some laconic form. It is also a way of expressing many arts as a unity. The logo was developed with a special principle based on the module and system built for the brand. The arrangement of the letters with the intended system, with increasing space, reflects the independent self-expression in opera and ballet and the endless touches of the arts that form a unity. The logo is dynamic and also has a quiet elegance. The principle used in the logo is continued as stylistics in brand design. These applications especially help to be remembered and felt in multifaceted design work. There are application versions of the concept. #graphicdesign #branding #logodesign #brandidentity #design

The Royal Ballet and Opera is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2035, addressing Scopes 1 and 2 emissions through sustainable electricity sourcing and permanent changes to building heating. They also aim to set Scope 3 targets by 2025, covering emissions from their suppliers, travel, and products. Progress will be monitored and reported annually to ensure targets are met. As part of their sustainability journey, the Royal Ballet and Opera has partnered with Graphenstone Paints UK to create unique colour collections inspired by their productions. These collections reflect the artistry of the stage while using Graphenstone’s environmentally friendly paints to support their sustainability goals. Through collaboration with staff, artists, and contractors, the organisation integrates sustainability into every aspect of its operations. Tools like the Operations Tracker and Production Calculator ensure continuous progress, reinforcing their commitment to greener practices within the arts sector.
