Star Treks 🏔️✨ Hiking trails come in all shapes and sizes, but the popular tend to be the longest, most daunting ones. These life-changing, foot-blistering treks are the ones you read books about, whether it’s the mighty Appalachian Trail that connects awe-inspiring vistas from Mount Springer, Georgia, to Mount Katahdin, Maine, or the Hokkaido Nature Trail that wondrously winds through glaciers, forests and volcanic mountains for 2,849 miles in northern Japan. 🥾 For common travelers, though, we don’t have a week or two to spend exclusively on hiking, but we still want to earmark a good, vigorous, fresh-air-seeking walk into our sightseeing itinerary. It’s important to do so—hiking is a crucial invigorator of the human spirit, one that feeds our innate need to explore the unknown, push ourselves physically and mentally, and discover some of the last remote places in the world before someone builds a Starbucks there. Here are some of the greatest destinations for hikers, the places that are inspiring to experience in myriad ways, and they just so happen to include exceptional day trips for those of us who wish to strap on a sturdy pair of Salomons. But let’s be honest here: this list is incomplete. Nearly every country in the world is full of great trails, but there are only so many pages in this magazine. So here I’ll focus on a handful of truly special hiking spaces—the true stars of the trekking world—that may or may not be on your radar. 🔭 #HikingAdventures #Stargazing #NatureLovers #ExploreTheOutdoors

4 Mistakes to Avoid when Hiking the Camino de Santiago 🥾 💫 Knowing what to expect when hiking the mighty Camino de Santiago is key to getting the best from the experience! ❌ Here’s 4 key mistakes to avoid from someone who’s just completed it! 1️⃣ Opting for the Summer Season Most people hike the camino in July and August, but it can be incredibly hot at this time of year and crowds and prices are sky high. Instead, I’d opt for the shoulder season months. May and October offer good weather, but much lower crowds and cheaper accommodation prices 2️⃣ Not Choosing Luggage Transfer The hardcore camino folk carry their bags on their back the whole way, but if you really want to enjoy the walk, then getting your luggage transferred between your accommodation is a winner let me tell you. Follow the Camino offer this service, as well as airport transfers, accommodation bookings, planning and route tips to help you get the best from your Camino experience. 3️⃣ Not Packing a Decent Daypack You’ll be walking for 5-8 hours a day on the camino, so making sure you have a good daypack with everything you’ll need is essential! Guidebooks, camera, snacks, water, waterproof gear, sunhat, wallet and a mini first aid kit with plasters for those blisters is essential! 4️⃣ Forgetting your Pilgrim Passport And talking of daypack items, don’t forget your pilgrim passport. Every day along the Camino you can get stamps at various cafes, bars, hotels and churches, which allows your camino to be verified when you reach Santiago - you’ll even get a certificate! 💥 GET 10% OFF your Camino adventure with planning Experts Follow the Camino using my discount code 💰Steph10 HERE ➡️ https://bit.ly/4fcGHhg ❓Have anymore questions about hiking the camino? LESSONS FROM HIKING THE LARAPINTA TRAIL Over the last fortnight my wife and I ticked off one of our bucket-list items. We hiked (part of) the Larapinta Trail. This demanding track starts in Alice Springs and goes for over 220km to the west – ending at Mt. Sonder. We did 150km in nine days as a kind of “best of…” The scenery is marvellous as you move slowly across the landscape. Red rocks everywhere and beautiful ridges – which you also need to traverse to get to the next campsite. We were seven hikers in total plus two guides providing us with food and encouragements. Two of our fellow hikers were badly prepared and not equipped for this strenuous adventure. They've either never done a multiday hike before or their shoes were not worn in. So that on day two they started to develop massive blisters and knee problems. Consequently, by day four or five we were down to five hikers! It is the same with your business processes… If your systems are in a bad state or your calculations are not equipped to do the work, you give up! You either end up with severe headaches and frustrations or you spend endless hours to get your numbers adding up. Don’t let your equipment let you down. Don’t let your systems ruin your day. Let’s fix it before you get blisters or knee problems. And as it is with good hiking shoes – these solutions are fit for purpose. Give me a call and within ten minutes we can work out what size you need. ;-) [https://lnkd.in/gevhe2zR] Jürgen Schmechel Building Better Systems since 1985 Simple Solutions to Complex Problems

Happy National Take A Hike Day!! 🥾🗻⛺️ Today, we celebrate the joys and challenges of getting out into nature and taking a hike. Every November 17th marks national take a hike day. Taking hikes is a great way to get into nature. Researching native species around the area you live in and going out to spot them can make hiking all the more exciting. Remember to gather the right supplies! Water and hiking shoes not only make the trip more comfortable but also safer. If you’re here in Southern California, be aware of the following three: - Mountain Lions: If you ever encounter one, experts say to appear big and face them! Make a lot of noise if they approach. - Coyotes: Experts say to follow the same protocol as mountain lions. - Snakes: start stomping your feet to create vibrations in the ground and wait until they move. Never approach them. Though it might feel strange to fight the urge to run, mountain lions and coyotes use this signal from other animals to recognize prey. So stand your ground, big and loud until they go away. The United States has over 60,000 miles of hiking trails so make use of them! Comment with your favorite hike!
