New Working paper out on deep transitions and digitalisation exploring the historical evolution of the information society. There is no 5th surge 'golden age' coming; recognizing the long-term path dependencies and embedded rules constituting 'digitalisation' raises significant doubts about the prospects of 'twinning' with sustainability. Different rules are needed for a new sustainable direction that breaks the legacies of the Silicon Valley infused digital meta-regime. A regime which exacerbates myriad sustainability issues rather than solving them.
