We've successfully wrapped up 2 more exploitation workshops, co-organized by Innovation Innovation Dis.Co and Infineon Technologies. These workshops highlighted the crucial role of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Large Enterprises (LEs) in utilizing the project's innovative solutions. The second workshop featured insights from our partner Plexim, while the third workshop showcased the expertise of ABB. Policy Landscape Supporting Technology Infrastructures in Europe! I. Technology Infrastructures (Tis) TIs encompass the facilities, equipment, capabilities (physical or virtual), and associated support services required to develop, test, and upscale technologies. They address the needs of the industry to support technology maturation from validation in a laboratory to competitive market entry. They are open to a wide range of users, mainly industrial players. They deliver technology and associated non-technological services II. Enablers Europe’s capacity to develop, mature and market innovative products and services in critical value chains is crucial to its open strategic autonomy. Technology Infrastructures are essential enablers to achieve such objectives III. Nomenclature This concept encompasses a comprehensive nomenclature of related terms, such as (open innovation) testbeds, testing and experimentation facilities, pilot lines, technology platforms, living labs, (pilot) demonstrators, etc IV. Cross-cutting Role Technology Infrastructures have a cross-cutting role in contributing to the overarching policy priorities to support the transformation towards a sustainable, digital and resilient industry and society. They are covered in public policies extending beyond Research and Innovation V. Landscape This report presents a thorough landscape analysis of all strategies, policies, programmes, instruments, public and private investment plans and funding streams supporting Technology Infrastructures (TIs) in Europe VI. Fragmentation The policy and funding landscape for TIs in Europe is considerably fragmented, with limited means to coordinate investments and ensure the effective combination of public funding to support TIs’ funding mix and long-term sustainability. Yet, the policy landscape is evolving, and the recognition of the role of TIs in R&I ecosystems is rising in EU, national and regional policy. VII. Recommendations 1. Fostering multi-level alignment between policies and roadmapping initiatives 2. Improve the availability, navigability and combination of funding streams for the creation and upgrade of TIs 3.
