On Monday, the Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA) had the honour of organising the #50in5 Milestone event at UNGA 79, titled DPI for People and Planet. At the event, we welcomed several new countries to the 50-in-5 campaign, including Brazil, Cambodia, France, Nigeria, Ukraine, and Uruguay—bringing the total to 22 countries coming together to help implement safe, inclusive, and interoperable #DigitalPublicInfrastructure! We also heard from inspiring DPI leaders from the Dominican Republic, Estonia, Lesotho, Malawi, Norway, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Togo and Zambia. Many thanks to all countries that participated and to fellow event champions: UNICEF Innovation, UNDP, Inter-American Development Bank, Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology and Co-Develop. As mentioned in the recently adopted #GlobalDigitalCompact and echoed throughout statements made by multiple high-level country representatives, the transformative power of #DigitalPublicGoods in providing adaptable solutions for implementing #DPI is significant. At the event, we welcomed Ukraine to the DPGA and left with renewed resolve to continue advocating for greater accessibility of technologies through the development, use, and investment in #DPGs Next stop: the #GlobalDPIsummit in Cairo! RII recently participated in the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) conference held in Kansas City, Missouri. The event proved to be an exceptional experience, fostering connections and showcasing the collaborative spirit of the railroad industry. The conference boasted an impressive turnout, with over 1,700 attendees and 200+ exhibitors. This vast #network provided a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration. RII representatives actively engaged in information sessions, gaining valuable insights into the latest industry trends and best practices. One of the key takeaways from the conference was the profound sense of community within the railroad industry.
