According to the newcivilengineer, over 3100 bridges in the UK are deemed substandard. 🌉 Modelling bridges up for construction has traditionally been a tricky, and long winded process, but with the development of drone technology, this process has become much easier and quicker. Aerial photogrammetry allows for centimetre level accuracy for the modelling and inspection of the bridges, allowing for potential issues to be identified ahead of them being a problem. LiDAR also offers sub-centimetre level accuracy when creating these models, and with sensors that can be attached to drones, such as the DJI Zenmuse L2 and the Emesent Hovermap STX, this workflow is further streamlined. Using drone technology to capture models of bridges will save roughly 80% of time compared with traditional survey methods for the exact same outcome. Check out the results captured with the Emesent Hovermap STX. https://lnkd.in/eXMJnbem #bridgesurveys #bridgeinspections #dronetechnology #photogrammetry #LiDAR

ROLE OF LiDAR IN CONSTRUCTION InfoTech, the experts at LiDAR post processing believes that the LiDAR technology plays an important role in Construction sector. It is where LiDAR has been playing a large industry role the longest. The steep costs, high complexity and low toleration for error have made the historically high cost of commissioning a laser scan worthwhile. Reduced costs have meant an explosion of cost-effective uses. For construction teams, access to LiDAR delivers the ability to create 3D models of existing space and build digital plans on those real spaces. Then, stages of construction projects can be scanned for quality assurance, cross-checking with models and spotting errors before they become a problem. LiDAR can also be deployed to quality assess prefabricated materials, making it far simpler to engage in this kind of construction process — driving efficiency, reducing costs and allowing architectural design to be pushed to its limit. The value of this kind of planning has been elevated by the development of digital collaboration frameworks such as BIM (Building Information Modelling), which delivers the value of these scans to every element of a construction team in formats best suited to their needs. BIM schematics then carry on to provide continuing value to facility maintenance and operation teams. #lidar #BIM #classification #buildings

To effectively plan key maintenance activities for large industrial assets, Osprey Integrity Ltd Integrity combines safe, advanced UAV surveys with Trendspek's software to deliver 20/20 vision of asset condition. These models and interactive reports are accessible remotely, anywhere in the world, by multiple stakeholders. With comprehensive digital insights, this achieves minimised turnarounds and less financial expenditures when it comes to managing complex industrial and energy assets. ℹ️ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁: Using Trendspek, Osprey Integrity collect key insights on structural conditions and build interactive repair packages to inform preventative maintenance programs. 🔍 𝗛𝗼𝘄: Photogrammetry data is collected at regular intervals using integrated reality capture, uploaded into to generate 3D models. These models are interacted with and reviewed collaboratively by various stakeholders. ⚠️ 𝗪𝗵𝘆: Detailed annotations within the 3D model pinpoint deficiencies with millimetre detail. Templates and Folders are customised to classify their criticality, allowing stakeholders to zero in on defects on a visual-rich replica to enable more informed decisions. 🔧 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁: In-app communication of recommended repair timeframes, required tradespeople, and access needs enable clients to create effective maintenance work packages for contractors. "As one example, we eliminated 7 trips of pickup trucks going to the field by using," says Courtland Penk, President of Osprey Integrity Ltd. "We went out once, 3D modelled the facility, put it into the platform where all the different groups could log in, do their measurements, do their site tours, create their own documents... and we were removing 7 trucks from having to go up to that same site, to do the same thing. The math on that is palpable." Setting out of building is interestingly fascinating! Indeed! Setting out is a crucial and fascinating process that requires precision and attention to detail. The building's footprint and layout are marked out on site, ensuring that the structure is properly aligned and positioned. Technology has indeed made the setting out process more efficient and less labor-intensive. Ways technology has impacted setting out: 1. GPS and GNSS: Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) enable accurate location and positioning, reducing the need for traditional surveying methods. 2. Total Stations: Electronic total stations combine GPS, GNSS, and optical surveying capabilities, streamlining the setting out process. 3. Building Information Modelling (BIM): BIM software allows for precise digital modeling and layout, reducing errors and facilitating more accurate setting out. 4. Autonomous Surveying Equipment: Robotic total stations and drones equipped with GPS and GNSS can automate the setting out process, increasing speed and accuracy. 5. Mobile Apps: Specialized apps, like construction surveying apps, enable users to perform setting out tasks more efficiently, using mobile devices. While technology has simplified and accelerated the setting out process, it's important to note that human expertise and oversight are still essential to ensure accuracy and quality control. Our old method is what I use here (the attached video). This process involves various techniques, including: - Surveying - Leveling - String lines - Pegs and markers Total station is engineer best method, he will just be there to confirm it, lol. Setting out a building requires a deep understanding of geometry, spatial awareness, and construction methods. It's a critical step that sets the foundation for the entire project, making it both fascinating and essential. we can be your #subcontractor or your main #contractor, you will always see reasons to have involve #iFastech earlier! #factoryconstruction #Alarocity #freezone #constructionexpert #projectengineers
