Tis the season! People often ask me how they can get involved with our community. They want to give back, however they are not sure how to go about it. There are 6,300 registered charities in Nevada. The first step is to determine what is on your heart. Children? Animals? Education, healthcare, seniors? Next, decide how you would like to contribute. The three most common strategies are financial support (writing checks), sitting on a Board of Directors (donating your talents) or volunteering. If you don’t have the financial resources to be a donor, do not fear! Volunteering is not only fulfilling, but also highly valued by charity organizations. Volunteers are the true heroes. Today we review Olive Crest. Olive Crest - Olive Crest is dedicated to preventing child abuse by strengthening, equipping, and restoring children and families in crisis…one life at a time. As long as you are a Georgia taxpayer, you can be approved (it just takes a few minutes) and make a donation then get 100% of the money back when you file your taxes in 2025. Below is a link to the Goshen Valley website (the Foster Care Organization I support) which has an easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to take advantage of this. When you go to the State of Georgia website you will see the other 38 approved FCO's if you want to find one in your area. These organizations depend on our support - and the donations from the tax credit are a GAME CHANGER for them! We are an organisation on the front line, fighting against social ills, providing those in Impoverished areas with the resources they need to get up each day and make a difference in their own lives and those around them. Our focus areas are Education, Health, Nutrition, Housing, Skills Development, Talent Development and Job placement, our holistic approach has been proven over the past 5 years, as we took those we serve from a place of absolute despair to one of hope and success. Our Challenge today is to all corporates, individuals, and retailers to take on the mantle of support and change, we are taking on these challenges daily, 68% of South African homes are without fathers leading to gangsterism and addiction, 40% of South Africans go to bed hungry and half of South African children drop out of school. We provide the solution and prove that our Holistic Approach takes a high school drop out from Drop Out to Graduate, daily meals are provided, and we raise up youth to step in as fathers. While awareness of baby banks remains relatively low (way behind food banks), raising their profile is urgent. That’s why coverage such as this ITV piece, about our Great Big Baby Shower, is so powerful. We see time and time again that as soon as people know and understand Little Village’s network of baby banks, the concept of passing on pre-loved children’s things to a family who needs them feels simple, yet genius. The families referred to us get the things they need for their babies and young children, while building new connections. The families who support us get to feel good that instead of landfill, their (often precious) items are going to be re-loved in a new home. So, back to the urgent bit. The need for our help has never been bigger. When our form is open, we receive an ask for help approximately every 45 seconds. And we simply can’t keep up with demand.
