2 tips to elevate your scientific presentations 🗣️ A few days ago I had an opportunity to present the initial findings from the study on whether Swiss family physicians prescribe antibiotics according to national guidelines during the best oral free communications session at SGAIM SSMIG SSGIM congress. Even though I didn’t win the first prize, I received positive feedback from my peers so I thought I would share some insights on how I prepared. I recently read a book called Smart Brevity by Jim VandeHei that contained two ideas that were a game changer when I thought about how to present our research findings: 💡 You have to state why what you are talking about is important 💡 It should be clear what is the main idea of your talk ➡️ you shouldn’t expect that others will guess these two things just by listening to you, and more importantly time and attention of your listers is precious and you should respect that
