What a buzz during our 30min Ideation Hackathon by SolutionHack this Wednesday! We brought together a diverse group of people from business, tech, design and academia to tackle two challenges: 1. Our challenge from Jennifer von Walderdorff, founder of Look at the Labels: How might we retrieve used, unwanted clothes from customers in an eco-friendly way? 👚 2. Our challenge from Sebastian Castro, founder of Larval: How might we improve food security in the European Union and reduce dependence on imports? 🍎 The task: in only 30 Minutes, define a clear target group you aim to support and discuss a specific problem they face within these challenges. Next: find a way to solve it. And we weren‘t short on innovative ideas. 10 teams pitched, enacted and told stories about the outcomes of their joint ideation. A big congratulations at this point to the winner: Team Green Top, aiming to solve the challenge of food security through creating roof top gardens for local produce. Hackathon 2024: Think Global. Hack Local. 🌍 R<h>\eHack      What the hack? 🤓 A hackathon is an intense, creative event where teams of developers and other experts come together to solve real-world problems through technology – all within a short time frame. After the great success of our first "Eat, sleep, code, repeat" Rhenus Hackathon last year, the hackathon era continued on an international level! Under the motto "Think Global, Hack Local," over 75 Rhenus IT developers from 10 countries worked remotely in 14 international teams, tackling challenges submitted by colleagues across Rhenus Logistics. 🌎  In just two days, they developed innovative solutions, that were presented in a pitch session for awards like ‘Best Technical Solution,’ ‘Most Innovative Solution,’ or ’Highest Business Value'. Last year's success story shows how hackathon ideas can have lasting impact: Since the idea for the recently launched ‘GreenNav’ application, an app that finds the transport route that generates the lowest emissions, was born at the 2023 hackathon, we are excited to see how this year's solutions will be further developed. 🤩     Beyond coding, the event is about teamwork, creativity, innovation and problem-solving, all while building lasting connections across the Rhenus community. 🤝 Our CEO Tobias Bartz and the jury members were impressed by the results and are already looking forward to next year, in which the hackathon era will continue. In the last 2 months I've participated in 3 hackathons🤓 Here are the results: 1. Deep Dive was my first hackathon ever. We had to create a go-to market strategy for the medical start-up. Unfortunately my team didn't manage to qualify for the second round but it was a great learning experience which assisted me in the next challenges. 2. Next came the Talent Vantaa Hackathon by Business Vantaa where my team tackled the space industry (totally new to me!) for ReOrbit – and we won! 3. The last challenge was from Solve the SDGs hackathon organized by Aalto Ventures Program and Junction. We built a digital tool to analyze extreme weather for Sweco, making it into the top 5 in the peer review! Feels like I found a new hobby! Already waiting for the next challenge... 😊

✨ Excited to share that I have successfully completed the Centific Premier Hackathon! 🏅 It’s been over a week since completing this incredible journey, but I’m still waiting on the swag to arrive! 😅 It was an incredible experience collaborating with brilliant minds and tackling real-world challenges in a fast-paced environment. I gained valuable insights and hands-on experience in solving complex problems through innovation and teamwork. Beyond the technical challenges, the hackathon gave us an invaluable glimpse into the corporate world. Over these two weeks, we got to witness firsthand how a company like Centific operates—its fast-paced work culture, the coordination across teams, and the drive for excellence. It was a rewarding experience that taught me not just about tech, but about the discipline and innovation needed to thrive in a corporate environment.
