Uttarakhand govt explores bids for 1,320 MW thermal unit to rope in private companies The Uttarakhand government is considering tariff-based competitive bidding for its proposed 1,320-MW thermal power plant, the first of its kind in the state, to attract private developers. The project, initially planned as a joint venture between Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam (UJVN) Ltd and THDC India Ltd, aims to be commissioned quickly. Although the state has significant hydro power potential, it is also focusing on thermal power to meet base load demands. The Uttarakhand government is actively exploring the option of tariff-based competitive bidding for its proposed 1,320-MW thermal power plant, the first in the state, in order to rope in private players to develop the project. "We may go for a tariff-based competitive bidding to involve private players," Uttarakhand's secretary for energy & renewable energy

It is a sustainable, clean, accessible, and environmentally friendly source of energy that plays a significant role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Japan's energy industry. By producing electricity without burning fossil fuels, hydroelectric power plants do not directly emit carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases. This carbon-free characteristic makes it one of the most widely researched and used renewable energy sources. It serves as a reliable alternative to electricity generation from fossil fuels like oil, coal, and natural gas, helping to significantly reduce CO2 emissions compared to traditional power plants. *𝗕𝘆 𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗲: Reservoir, Water Diversion Pond, Pumped Storage Power, Generation *𝗕𝘆 𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗲: Large-scale hydroelectric power generation (over 30MW), Small-scale hydroelectric power generation (100kW to 10MW), Micro hydroelectric power generation (up to 100kW) *𝗕𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁: Electrical and Mechanical Equipment, Electrical Infrastructure, Civil Engineering *𝗕𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱: Public, Private *𝗕𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿: Residential, Commercial, Industrial *𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀: Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi Energy, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., Sumitomo Electric, Fuji Electric Co., Ltd., Panasonic Energy of North America, Kubota Corporation, Yokogawa Electric Corporation, METAWATER Co., Ltd. #JapanHydropower #HydroelectricEnergyJapan #RenewableEnergyJapan #CleanEnergyJapan #SustainableEnergyJapan #CarbonFreeEnergyJapan #JapaneseHydroPower #HydropowerTechnologyJapan #WaterEnergyJapan #GreenEnergyJapan #EnvironmentalFriendlyEnergyJapan #HydroelectricJapan #JapanGreenPower #HydropowerPlantsJapan #EnergyTransitionJapan #CarbonNeutralJapan #HydroPowerDevelopmentJapan #ClimateChangeMitigationJapan #JapanElectricityGeneration #RenewablePowerJapan

*Sector Snippet -Power & Infra 1) Solar Parks :- India's renewable energy initiative has got a major push with Govt aims to establish 51 Solar Parks with a capacity of ~50GW(80% solar) bids every year. 2) Railway:- Indian railway CAPEX has increased by 12% to ₹2.6Trn. Under the National Railway plan, it aims to increase the share of railway freight to 45% by FY'30 from current 26% i.e catering a volume of 3600 Mn tons. 3) Bharatmala Project. In FY'24 Govt has already approved 79% of its plan of the proposed ~34,800Km of approx ~₹10 Trn opportunity in the sector. The balance 21% still opens a window of ₹2.6Trn(Lac cr) #iifl

Wind turbine technology has undergone significant advancements, leading to longer, lighter rotor blades and taller towers. These improvements, coupled with more reliable drivetrains and performance-optimizing control systems, have resulted in increased efficiency, effectiveness, higher rating, and productivity. During the 2023-24 period, the country added 3.25 GW of new wind capacity, marking a substantial rise from the 2.27 GW added in the previous year. This growth was fueled by key policy adjustments, including transitioning the wind tender mechanism from reverse bidding to a closed envelope model in 2022-23. This financial year wind sector is ready to add > 5 GW capacity. Additionally, India's vast 7,600 km coastline presents significant potential for offshore wind energy (OWE), with estimates suggesting 700 GW of capacity. The National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) has identified 16 promising zones along the coasts of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, with a combined potential of approximately 70 GW. This capacity could effectively power over 50 million households, highlighting the country's strong commitment to sustainable energy solutions. #WindEnergy #OffshoreWindFarms #EnergyTransition #GreenEnergy #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy
