📣 #UICrail was in Korea last week for several events, notably its 36th Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, the 22nd UIC Asia-Pacific Management Committee (APMC), the UIC - KORAIL Workshop on Best Practices of High-Speed Line Operation in Asia-Pacific, and the first Scientific Committee of the UIC High-Speed Congress planned to be held in Beijing in 2025. ➡️ All these meetings were organised at the invitation of KORAIL as part of the celebrations for the 20th #anniversary of the HSR in Korea, bringing together UIC members from the Asia Pacific region as well as from Europe and the USA. ➡️ In addition to the warm welcome, it is worth noting the special attention given by Korail to UIC members and the interest in the technical and cultural visits. In his report, UIC APRA Chairman HAN Moon Hee emphasised the importance of UIC's work on #standardisation with the support of the region, and the strong #commitment of regional members to develop regional projects. Key messages delivered by UIC APRA Chairman HAN Moon Hee, and UIC Director General François DAVENNE, also highlighted the global challenges and opportunities in rail transport, focusing on decarbonisation, digitalisation, and safety culture. ➡️ The project activities of APRA were presented by Philippe Lorand, Coordinator of the UIC Asia-Pacific region. 🚄 The workshop on High-Speed Line Operation in the Asia-Pacific region tied in with the 20-year anniversary of high-speed lines in Korea. Key messages were delivered by Eungdae Lee, Deputy Director, International Cooperation Department, KORAIL Bertrand MINARY, UIC Passenger Director, Coordinator of the UIC Middle-East & Latin America regions. The workshop was very enriching, both in terms of the topics covered and the cross-discussions between Asia, Europe, and other regions. Baoshi HUO, Chair, UIC Intercity & High-Speed Committee and Director of the Science Technical and IT Application Department of Chinese Railways (CR) introduced the worldwide status and trends for HSL development. 🙌 The meetings were testament to the importance of #collaboration and shared #development within the UIC APRA region. #governance #HighSpeed #Cooperation #Innovation #Passenger

All right. Let's try to complete the circle. UIC - International union of railways #UICrail runs a database called Merits into which railway companies put their timetable data. That's why - for example - if I put Porto 🇵🇹 and Lisboa 🇵🇹 into Deutsche Bahn 🇩🇪 timetable search I get shown train times. But if I put Rīga 🇱🇻 and Daugavpils 🇱🇻 I do not - because the data is NOT in Merits. There is a UIC member in 🇱🇻 - it is Latvijas dzelzceļš and not AS Pasažieru vilciens (the latter operates the trains). But PV *does* have an API, and does share its timetable data with... 🥁 Google! See this if you don't believe me - shows train times in Google Maps https://lnkd.in/dNCeAAYM So how have UIC, LDz and PV been unable to get Latvian train times into Merits? 🤔 This is also a problem for Eurail as it means Latvian trains do not show properly in Interrail's app either. How do we get this fixed?

Innovative solutions involving University students, tutors and industrial suppliers resulted in a great system that can help identify and control compressed air leaks of any size.
𝗔𝗜𝗥 𝗦𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 🎉 A seminar showcasing the successful outcomes🎯 of AIR SAVE was organised at the Engineering Research and Innovation Laboratories at the University of Malta. This event brought together 50 participants, including representatives from 13 industrial companies and 3 governmental institutions. The seminar featured a series of presentations and a live demonstration of the Air Save system, which operates in real-time⌛ to intelligently identify, optimise, and control common compressed air faults 🌱 The positive feedback✅ we received inspires us to keep advancing this innovative solution and together with AIM Enterprises Ltd, bringing it closer to the market. We would like to express our gratitude to Xjenza Malta for granting the funding of this project. See you at TIS ROMA 2024 International Conference in Rome on September 20th 2024, organized by AIIT_Italia 🗓 Together with Fabio Borghetti, Laura Ferretto and Benedetto Barabino we will present our work: “How to promote and implement Mobility as a Service? An Italian survey to learn about the propensity of users”. With this work, starting from the research I've been conducting for my Master's thesis, we have been deepening some specific topics gaining some more hints and a clearer picture to understand the Italian context of Mobility as a Service. In the last years, MaaS has been a heavily discussed term, but the trasnsport sector still lacks of a satisfactory offer in terms of scale and quality. A lot of work remains to be done, both on the regulatory and technological side. At the same time, we shall not forget the effort needed in terms of finding adaptable and scalable business models. We look forward to seeing you there and have the possibility to discuss about topics that are gonna shape the mobility sector of the future! 🚲 🚝 🚌 🚗 ✈ #MaaS #transport #data #AI #mobility
