⚡ DEDALUS & DigiBUILD Project: leveraging advanced technologies, data, and community involvement to transform energy management and building operations 👇🏽 💡 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗗𝗘𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗨𝗦? DEDALUS is a cross-border project to create a multi-value, energy "carrier-agnostic" ecosystem that empowers residential consumers to actively participate in Demand Response (DR) programs. ℹ️ According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), a demand response (DR) approach provides incentives to shift or reduce electricity demand in wholesale and third-party power markets to help balance the grid. With that in mind, the DEDALUS initiative aims to: ✔️ Facilitate massive participation of residential energy consumers in DR. ✔️ Adapt to various mono-carrier (electricity, heat) or multi-carrier scenarios at building and district scales. ✔️ Strengthen social interactions within communities. 👉🏽 CIMNE is proud to participate in the consortium alongside top research and industry partners, through the Beegroup - CIMNE innovation unit. 🔎 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗘𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗨𝗦 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗖𝗛 To achieve these goals, DEDALUSis depolying: 1️⃣ A Social Science Framework for multi-dimensional incentives and nudging interventions. 2️⃣ AI-based clustering and segmentation algorithms for consumers. 3️⃣ Open APIs for DR-ready smart appliances. 4️⃣ Energy DataSpace adaptation for extended DR interoperability and privacy-preserving DLT/Blockchain Data Governance. 5️⃣ Digital Twins for consumer-aware DR flexibility planning. 6️⃣ Comfort-based flexibility models for serviced flats for elderly people. 7️⃣ Flexibility management tools for building and district energy communities. 8️⃣ Optimal aggregation of flexible energy assets for district heating and decentralized power-to-heat. 9️⃣ A Business Sandbox with novel sharing economy social innovation-based business models. 🎯 𝗩𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧 DEDALUS solutions will be validated through five full-scale pilot projects and replicated by two multipliers across seven countries. These pilots will operate at the intersection of energy and non-energy sectors, involving various stakeholders such as social housing operators, building operators, aggregators, energy communities, retailers/suppliers, and DSOs/District Heating Network operators. 🌱 We are excited to work alongside European colleagues for a greener tomorrow! #EnergyManagement #SmartEnergy #Innovation #CIMNE #DEDALUS #Sustainability
At the Enlit Europe 2024 workshop, “Unlocking the Power of Smart Energy”, #DEDALUS_EU and its fellow project DigiBUILD Project showcased how advanced technologies and user-centric approaches are revolutionizing energy management and building operations. Organised by the #SmartEnergyCluster, the workshop saw the participation of other initiatives and EU-funded projects involved in the #energytransition, such as Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy Foundation (IEECP), FORTESIE EU Project, EU-MORE, Reschool Project, and RESONANCE Project. 🌊 🌏 Ocean industries play a vital role in driving economic development, social prosperity, nature conservation and climate action. Currently, the OECD predicts that ocean-based industries will exceed $3 trillion in annual value by 2030. We were thrilled to participate in the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI) roundtable in Brussels. The event brought together leaders from the ports, shipping, and offshore renewable energy sectors to share insights and best practices that will help shape the upcoming Lloyd's Register Foundation's nature-positive engineering foresight review. As industries like offshore wind experience rapid growth and the demand for ocean space rises, we face both an opportunity and an imperative: to balance economic benefits with protecting the ecosystems that underpin a regenerative blue economy and sustain long-term resilience for coastal communities. Hanh Nguyen, Alfredo Giron Nava, Xi Xie, Ronald Tardiff, Savina Carluccio, Tim Verhoeven, Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Andreas Roulund, EKAITZ LOPEZ AMURRIO, Christopher Whitt, Sanae Okamoto, Andy Deacon, Dan Smith, Jasmine Andean, Katie Momber, Julie Greenwalt #Maritime #BlueEconomy #RegenerativeBlueEconomy #Ports #Shipping #Offshorewind #Renewables #Ocean #OceanAction #SDG15
The Foundation was present at the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI)’s latest roundtable on nature-positive #engineering in Brussels last week. We heard from experts from across the ports, #shipping and offshore renewable energy sectors share the current state of practice throughout Europe, identify emerging trends and discuss opportunities to scale the implementation of nature-positive solutions. Insights from this event will inform the final recommendations in Lloyd's Register Foundation's Nature-positive Engineering Foresight Review, to be launched in 2025. Delighted to publish this Local Energy Planning report just after Ofgem opened their Regional Energy Strategic Plan policy framework consultation. We identify an important role for RESPs in supporting local energy planning – developing common modelling assumptions and open-source geospatial tools, as well as providing technical support. Five recommendations for effective local planning to accelerate net zero energy systems: > Consolidate learning from local energy planning across GB > Develop a consistent framework for local energy planning; including standardised data protocols and access > Treat local energy planning as a process not an outcome: prioritise accessible and adaptable modelling tools, not one‑off plans > Integrate community and citizen engagement in local energy planning > Focus support on translating plans into delivery and investment strategies https://lnkd.in/eMVKq5zC https://lnkd.in/emWGzENB
