Early intervention targets the core challenges associated with ASD, including deficits in social communication, repetitive behaviors, and sensory sensitivities. By addressing these challenges early, interventions can help children develop coping strategies, improve social skills, and mitigate the impact of sensory sensitivities on daily functioning. #EarlyIntervention #ASDIntervention #SocialCommunication #RepetitiveBehaviors #SensorySensitivities #ChildDevelopment #CopingStrategies #SocialSkills #SensoryIntegration #AutismSupport

Shame isn’t a flaw—it’s often a survival mechanism. For children, believing “I am bad” can feel safer than acknowledging that their caregivers can’t meet their emotional needs. This adaptation helps children cope in an unstable world, but it can limit their growth and healing in adulthood. 👉 Have you seen this adaptive response in clients? How do you approach reframing shame in your practice? Regulation Strategies for Dysregulated Children📚 Regulation strategies for dysregulated children refer to therapeutic and practical methods employed to help children manage and control their emotional responses, behavioral impulses, and physiological states. These strategies aim to improve emotional stability, enhance self-regulation skills, and support adaptive functioning in various contexts. They often involve techniques for identifying and modulating emotions, fostering self-soothing practices, developing coping mechanisms, and establishing consistent routines.✨ Reference: Perry, B. Started the week with some confidence work in session. The more I do trauma therapy the more I realise so much of the work is around unravelling the personal impact not the experince itself. Especially with children and adolescents, talking about the experince is such a small % of the work, I notice how much holding such experiences for often really long periods of time erodes their sense of self in such a important and difficult time away during their developmental years. #traumatherapy #traumarecovery #childhoodtrauma #childdevelopment

When choosing a therapist for your child, it's crucial to observe how they handle emotions. A Red Flag to watch for is when a therapist dismisses a child’s feelings as trivial or unimportant. This can create a sense of invalidation, causing the child to feel unheard and misunderstood. On the flip side, a Green Flag is when a therapist uses a child-centered approach, actively listening, validating the child's emotions, and addressing their unique emotional needs. This fosters trust and helps the child feel safe in expressing themselves. Remember, emotional support is the foundation of effective therapy! Stay tuned for more insights into therapist red flags and green flags. #ChildTherapy #TherapistRedFlags #TherapistGreenFlags #EmotionalSupport #MentalHealthMatters #ChildDevelopment #TherapistTips #ParentingTips #KidsMentalHealth #EmotionalWellbeing #ChildCenteredTherapy #TherapyForKids #ParentingHelp #TherapistAwareness
