A few months back, our Workshop and Studio were gifted a handful of broken guitars thanks to the generosity of Curvy Sounds, a local instrument store based in Heaton. Our handy attendees at the workshop took on the challenge of giving these guitars a new lease of life. Each guitar now has a new story behind it, and a new home as attendees took home their finished creations 💙

Need to brush up on guitar technique? Join me on zoom for 30min and get it done! I will be rotating topics and doing min drills among the participants, it'll be fun and rewarding! I'll be practicing the drills in real time with you. No excuses! For this session you'll need: • metronome handy • "pointy" medium or heavy guitar pick (pointy jazz ii picks are my favorite) • optimize your sound for zoom (google your options, it changes for phone, ipad and desktop), generally speaking have "original sound" selected and "echo cancelation" set to low in audio settings • the willingness to practice drills to get stronger technique • a winning attitude! Topics include: • Finger training combinations • Fingers stretch • Eliminating flying fingers (ouch that hurts) • Hammer ons • Pull offs • Sliding (to and from) • Bending (types of bending) • Muting (palm and left hand) • Scratching • ghost notes • Shifting positions accurately I'm looking forward to meeting with you in our next drill.

#Proofreading of the Day - Episode 60 When creating combined dynamics in Sibelius, the Magnetic Layout feature keeps them aligned and grouped together, which is a blessing. When not using default settings, though, curious things can happen as soon as items get too close to each other. Look here at the small end of the diminuendo hairpin in the violin stave (zoom closely if you don’t notice it): the two arms (lines) of the hairpin cross each other, not matching their endpoints. The solution here is to change the Open property of the affected hairpin in the Inspector from 0 to 0.03 spaces. It may not be too noticeable in digital scores, given the smaller screens, but trust me, on paper it is very clear that something is not as it should be! There is also (at least) one collision I have not marked here. Can you spot it? From William Blank’s Orma, for violin and piano #Proofreadingtips #proofreadingmatters #ProofreadingServices
