We had a busy day at the Joseph Cowen Health Centre last week with lots of smiling faces thanks to donations from Morrisons and FareShare UK💙 We held a festive feast for visitors, serving delicious meals to 44 people in our community, with one visitor feeding back it was "Lush. Proper belter of a day". Some visitors even managed to grab seconds to take away with them! A special moment of the day was seeing John and his dad together again after being reunited last year through the Centre - enjoying their second Christmas dinner together in a row at Joseph Cowen🎄🍽️

Christmas is coming! What is a joyous time for many brings dread for others. Feeding Families (UK) has always had Christmas at its core as that's how we got started and the need never gets less. We launched our Christmas campaign this week with the support of Kim McGuinness, North East Mayor. Especially if you are local to us (but you don't have to be), can you do one of the following: 1. Make a donation which will fill a box with food for a family. https://lnkd.in/dWD9UpAy 2. Do a fundraising event in your workplace. (Let us know if you need some support.) 3. Do a food collection at work or in your street (great to get the kids involved with!). We have flyers and collection boxes if you want to pick some up. 4. Volunteer - we need people to drive our vans and pack our boxes and there are still some spaces available. You can register here https://lnkd.in/esamzP4q A little bit of your time and effort, when added to everyone else's, will make a massive difference to thousands of home this year. Don't scroll by - be the solution to someone's need this year.
Mayor calls for action to support families in need “Feeding Families demonstrates the compassionate, pragmatic and creative thinking we need to help more families. By partnering with community organisations like Feeding Families we can help families in the here and now, and make sure they find the support they need to get back on their feet and thrive.” North East mayor Kim McGuinness is urging businesses and residents to join efforts to support thousands of families facing food insecurity this Christmas. Her appeal came at a Feeding Families (UK) and North East Chamber of Commerce event, with the charity launching a £213,700 Festive Campaign to provide food boxes and support packages to over 8,500 families and individuals in need. 📦 Help us support families facing food insecurity this Thanksgiving by making a pledge to provide items for our Thanksgiving boxes! Last year, we distributed 2,100 Thanksgiving dinner boxes to North Side families, and this year we’re aiming to distribute 2,300 boxes. 🍂🦃 We need your help to make this possible! Would you, your friends, family, church, or business collect food for our Annual Thanksgiving Boxes Outreach? The last day to drop off donations is November 13. Here's how to help: ➡️Email Erika at volunteer@lightoflife.org to make a pledge of the amount of food you'll provide and receive instructions on item sizes, donation drop off, etc. ➡️Collect the items you've committed to (turkey gravy, turkey stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, or cranberry sauce) ➡️Drop off the items before November 13 Let’s work together to ensure every family has a meal to celebrate this Thanksgiving. 🧡 #ThanksgivingOutreach #CommunitySupport #FoodDrive

🧁🍰🎂 Let them eat cake 🎂🍰🧁 Gloucestershire colleagues. Can you help? We really, really need you to. Yesterday, my incredible team and I, along with volunteers from @BraveHCG, picked, packed, collected, carried, sorted, stacked, and stuffed our way through gift sorting and hamper filling for Caring for Communities and People #HamperScamper. We set a hamper-filling record for this year (so far). 125 hampers packed, sealed, and ready for distribution. It would have been 150 hampers. What stopped us? Not enough cake! The incredible thing about #HamperScamper is the generosity of such a wide group of people and businesses. The downside is we’re never quite sure what we’ll have lots of, and what we’ll have little. Right now, it’s everything, but most of all, cakes. Christmas Cakes, Yule Logs, Christmas Puddings. Whatever you want to donate. The grand total now stands at 500 complete. 2,500 still to source and pack. There are nowhere near enough donations in yet, and every day, every item, counts. Can you donate? Everything you need to know (what, where, how?) is here: https://lnkd.in/eBmwHASc [Video shows the 25 boxes that we’d part-filled, before we ran out of cake] #ESG #VolunteeringDay #WeAreCCP #PurposeLed #AmplifyingImpact

Timing and small changes in habits make all the difference.
Financial Director ♦ Building Design & Planning Applications For The Commercial, Industrial & Residential Sectors
The lady at the charity shop today told me that she wishes people would clear out their children's old toys in the lead up to Christmas rather than after, because she always sees a number of parents in the days before Christmas looking for toys for their little ones who might be strapped for cash. She said there's very rarely anything in just before, but they get inundated with toys in the days after and it really made me think about it in a way I never have before. If you know your child is going to get lots of presents from Father Christmas this year, by clearing out your cupboards a few days early you could make another child's Christmas a lot more special too.

Every Christmas we try to make the world a little brighter for children, adults and families across the North West: whether that's making sure that young ones receive a Christmas present, helping families afford a festive dinner, or making care leavers feel less alone. We can only do this thanks to the kindness of our own community. Did you know there are countless ways to help? -You could make a small donation to cover the cost of a toy, a food hamper or toiletries. 🧸 -You can buy a raffle ticket for yourself or as a present for your loved ones. 🎟️ -You could buy your presents from our online stores. 🛍️ -You could gift a support animal sponsorship subscription to the animal lovers in your life. 🐹 -You could get your Christmas cards from us. 🎄 -You could volunteer your time and help us at events, and pack and sort presents. 🙋 -You could donate your old knits to charity. 🧶 -You could like and share our Christmas appeal posts to help others learn more about our charity and how we help communities. 🎁 Make a difference: https://lnkd.in/dExVwyts

Help Restock the Food Bank and Make a Difference! The local food bank is facing an urgent shortage, and it’s time for our community to step up. At Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Preferred Real Estate, we’re joining the effort to restock the shelves. We’re asking everyone in Auburn and the surrounding areas to bring non-perishable food items to our office so we can make a positive impact together. Every single item helps! Why Your Donation Matters: With the rising cost of living, more families than ever are turning to the food bank for help. These donations provide essential nutrition and support to those who need it most in our community. A small contribution can make a huge difference, from providing a warm meal to easing the burden of a tight budget. How You Can Help: Drop off canned goods, pasta, rice, peanut butter, and other shelf-stable items at our Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Preferred Real Estate office. Let’s make a meaningful impact and help our neighbors in need! #GiveBack #FoodBankSupport #CommunityFirst #AuburnAL #RestockTheShelves #BHHSPreferredRealEstate #DonateFood https://lnkd.in/eHa-Wcd9

If you've never asked for help before, we know that it takes a lot to pick up the phone 📞 There are lots of reasons why people may feel uncomfortable speaking to a charity, ranging from a misconception about the kinds of people who approach charities for help; to not believing their problem is bad enough. Christmas is a brilliant time of year, but it’s easy to get swept up in the chaos of gifts, parties, and celebrations. For me, the festive season is a valuable time to give back. This time of year can be particularly tough for some, so I’ve been reflecting on ways to help others and spread a little extra cheer: 🔴 Donate to a food bank: Whether it’s canned goods or essentials like toiletries, food banks do amazing work. FreshFood4Families is a great example of a local group making a real difference here in Yorkshire. 🔴 Give the gift of time: Volunteering, whether it’s at a shelter or wrapping gifts for charity, has a special way of reminding us what the season is really about. 🔴 Check in on loved ones and neighbours: A quick phone call or visit could mean the world to someone feeling isolated this Christmas. 🔴 Donate or support a cause you care about: Whether it’s a toy drive for children or sponsoring a family in need, every small act counts. It doesn’t have to be big to make a difference. Even the smallest gesture can bring a little light to someone’s life this Christmas. #christmasreflections #givingback #kindnessmatters
