The Gobierno de Navarra (Regional Government of Navarre (Spain) has carried out a new flight test involving manned and unmanned aircraft, specifically four drones, one from the Navarre delegation, and a Government of Navarre helicopter, simulating the search for a person who disappeared while walking the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela in the vicinity of Estella-Lizarra. This action is part of the European U-ELCOME project, in which Navarre participates along with other communities in Spain and regions of Italy and France to explore the use of drones in different areas. Dedrone's latest report reveals a startling trend: one-third of drone flights violate FAA rules on July 4th. These violations, including drones flying too high and entering restricted airspace, pose significant risks to public safety. Dedrone's expertise in airspace security is crucial in addressing these unauthorized drone activities, ensuring that our skies remain safe during high-profile events and holidays. Learn more about these findings and the importance of drone regulation via Philip Butterworth-Hayes at Unmanned Airspace: https://lnkd.in/g5mK5Dx5

This is a major step forward in the progress of larger unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and shows the effort being undertaken to allow sustainable scaling of the industry https://lnkd.in/e4j7dx27. It aligns with the work the CAA is doing https://lnkd.in/eRM-MmZe, supported by their four pillars of Pilot competency, Flightworthiness, Risk assessment and Airspace. These regulations will form an essential part of the development of effective unmanned systems in the air and will support the more rapid growth and expansion of this valuable industry. #drone #UAS #UAV #BVLOS #EVLOS #VLOS #Droneliner #UmannedAerialVehicle #UnmannedAerialSystem #FAA #CAA
The biggest challenge facing the coming drone or UAS revolution will be the legislation involved. The technological hurdles can all be overcome and many of the mechanisms and systems are already established and proven. It's the rules and regulations around airspace that will determine how fast the industry develops and grows. This latest announcement is a major step forward in that process https://lnkd.in/ezDrMCTF. Currently, drones in many countries are restricted to Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) flights, meaning that the pilot (or operator) has to be able to clearly see the drone at all times. This is a key requirement within both the FAA and CAA regulations at the moment. The main reason for this is to avoid the fundamental risk of collision with other aircraft, so it's really about monitoring the drone's flight path and being able to manoeurve it clear of anything it might collide with. The aviation authorities are fully aware that their legislation needs to allow the scaling of the UAS industry while maintaining the essential element of safety https://lnkd.in/eDj7G-eB. This approach has led to the Extended VLOS (EVLOS) concept with trained observers beyond the operator's line of sight and the FAA have granted some BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) waivers in restricted airspace. And this latest grant is for the largest UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) so far. There's still a way to go before we'll see really large Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) flying over long distances but we're certainly heading in the right direction. #drone #UAS #UAV #BVLOS #EVLOS #VLOS #Droneliner #UmannedAerialVehicle #UnmannedAerialSystem #FAA #CAA

On September 6th, Pirineos Drone Aviation S.L presented the flight of their DJI Flycart 30 at the Grau Roig sector of Grandvalira-Saetde (And), in the presence of Andorran authorities, the fire department, and the media, with support from the resort’s staff and HPDRONES, who actively collaborate and provide support to Pirineos in their delivery operations. The tests marked significant progress, successfully demonstrating the transport of loads up to 25kg across distances exceeding 1km within the resort. Since May, Pirineos Drone has completed 50 test flights, covering a total distance of 50km, proving that each operational drone can transport at least 100kg per hour. This achievement would not have been possible without the backing of the Andorran Government’s Civil Aviation Department, whose support in facilitating these tests is crucial to developing new regulations for remotely piloted systems (drones) in the Principality. #hpdrones #djiflycart30 #pirineosdrone #delivery #andorra

For the first time in U.S. aviation history, the FAA has granted authorization to multiple operators for the commercial use of drones without visual observers in shared #airspace. #Zipline International and #Wing Aviation have received permissions that enable them to deliver packages while maintaining safe distances between their drones using #UAS traffic management (#UTM) technology. This system allows the industry to control the airspace under strict FAA safety supervision."This marks the first occasion the FAA has allowed a third-party to manage drone interactions securely," said a spokesperson. It's a pivotal moment for the entire aviation sector as we move towards a future with increased flights and a heightened need for coordination. #uavdronetechnolog #drones #UAVs #aviation #technology #drones #eVTOLs #pilot #smartcities #Dronesforgood #AUVSI #DroneX #AAMExpo #helitech #Innovation #Aerospace #Technology https://lnkd.in/dn87S8uk

Out of Sight: FAA Authorizes Commercial Drone Flights Beyond Visual Observation In my hometown of Dallas, the FAA has authorized commercial drone flights in the same airspace without line of sight visual observers under with close scrutiny from the FAA. See announcement at https://lnkd.in/gAJbExkP Previously, the FAA required drones to be operated within the line of sight of their operators. Zipline International and Wing Aviation will carry out the package deliveries under this authority. TAKEAWAY: This FAA action is an exciting development for commercial use of drones, which business should follow closely and, as soon as authorized, emulate where their businesses can benefit consumers and themselves.
