Do you remember having something for the very first time? Our Grade 4 learner, Itumeleng, had slush for the first time in her life while at a Tomorrow Trust learner engagement🥤. All learners had an opportunity to choose their drinks at a cinema outing and they all quickly picked the obvious and most refreshing – a slush. Itumeleng ran to a Tomorrow Trust team member with the biggest smile on her face. “Teacher, this drink is full of ice and it’s nice,” shouted Itumeleng. She had no idea it was even called “Slush”. Itumeleng was so overjoyed as she requested, “I have never had this in my life. Please take a picture of me and send it to my mom.” The moment brought such a great realised that we often take for granted. A simple slush was something new and exciting for our grade 4 learner who doesn’t have such experiences in her community. There are so many children out there who are longing for these simple joys.
