Have you heard of our #STEM Talks series? These monthly virtual career panels highlight various roles in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to give youth an opportunity to explore post-secondary #pathways. These events also get recorded so youth can catch up on missed sessions or watch their favourite presentations again. Head to the Research at UHN YouTube channel to find our 2024-2025 sessions thus far. https://lnkd.in/gbwiCiy6

“STEM contributors are diverse, and roles in STEM or using STEM are varied and rewarding. We want students of all identities and backgrounds to know that they can feel valued, happy, and well-rewarded working in STEM-related jobs.” The OCR team has developed versatile resources to help secondary science teachers challenge stereotypes and showcase the true diversity of STEM careers. By connecting GCSE and A-level content with inspiring biographies of STEM contributors from various backgrounds, teachers can help every student see themselves in science. "Often our students with learning disabilities automatically disqualify themselves from careers in fields that include titles such as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. But we is bring in fun activities that are suddenly making these students say, "Wait...this is Engineering? I could do this!" It is fun and inspiring to watch our students rethink what they see themselves as capable of doing." Chris Singer, STEM Club Leader, Oregon Building a student's STEM identity is possible! We've helped over 5.5 million students engage with engineering, but with your help we can make that 10 million experiences by 2030! #STEMOutreach #STEMEdu #Engineering

🌟 STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics 🌟 Fostering critical thinking in children from a young age wouldn't be possible without supportive moms. 💖 A child's curiosity shines brightest with the person they're closest to—often, that's their mom. 🌟 Make the most of your special bond: 1. 🗣️ Talk to them. More importantly, let them talk. 2. 🏫 Ensure STEM is part of their school and home life. 3. 🛠️ Provide tools and resources to guide their path. We're organizing a STEM camp this summer! 🌞 Comment "STEM" and we'll DM you the details. 📩 -Follow for more #STEMeducation #STEMcareers #STEMleadership #STEMinnovation #STEMskills #STEMcommunity #STEMadvancement #STEMfuture #STEMindustry #STEMresearch

It’s National #STEMDay! A special day to recognize the importance of science, technology, engineering and math education and careers among young people. 👧🏾 I was first interested in STEM when my late Dad took my siblings and I out for a walk in our vegetable garden. He then explained photosynthesis to 3 curious-minded tots. He did so with enthusiasm as he explained terminology into bite-sized chunks, the actual process, with inputs and outputs and why we should care. I have tried to ignite the same passion in our 2 young ladies as well as philanthropically. At AZ, I’m one of many dedicated STEMbassadors. Learn more below about how AZ is inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders:
We believe empowering the next generation to pursue their interests in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (#STEM) is critical to solve tomorrow’s challenges. Through our global STEM programme, we create and support inclusive and equitable opportunities that inspire students to explore STEM topics and career paths. By uniting with community partners and engaging our employees, we provide a range of engagement and mentorship activities that equip young adults with more tools and opportunities to unlock their potential and drive scientific progress. When we focus too much on how STEM prepares students for the workforce, we miss the other potential benefits of STEM education. In her book, STEM by Design, Anne Jolly articulates several ways in which STEM education cultivates meta-skills that are valuable for life as well as a career: 1. STEM lessons help students go deeper in their understanding of important science and math concepts. 2. Students become innovative critical thinkers and are able to make good decisions. 3. Students understand how to approach and solve problems. 4. Students develop a sense of ethics and social conscience. 5. Students develop good collaboration skills. 6. Students become more technologically literate. 7. Students understand how their coursework opens the door to future careers. #stemdotorg
