Exciting Tender Opportunity: UK Sport is launching a ground breaking pilot project as part of the System Master Planning programme (bit.ly/3ZbvsA3), for the British Olympic and Paralympic sporting system. This initiative aims to build common digital and data foundations across National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to enhance collaboration and efficiency. View Tender: bit.ly/40ZfJFw The pilot project and ITT is the first delivery step towards the vision of digital transformation across the UK sporting system. This pilot project is about proving benefits can be delivered, and that NGBs can collaborate to achieve them. The objective of the pilot is therefore to test the following hypotheses: 1. Data and digital investments can deliver business value 2. Collaborating across NGBs accelerates digital transformation 3. Data and digital ‘components’ can be efficiently and effectively reused or centralised across NGBs Submit your proposals by 19th December 2024. 🤔 What does a National Governing Body of Sport (NGB) actually do? NGBs are some of the most important organisations in sports, yet people often have little knowledge of what they do on a daily basis. We work with over 70 NGBs worldwide, and in our latest article, we outline some of their key responsibilities. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ePVYn_hC #sportstech #sportsbusiness #sportsindustry #sheffieldbusiness #associationmanagement #sportsmanagement #membershipmanagement #thoughtleadership

With the Paris Olympic’s due to begin shortly and the Euro’s, F1 and Wimbledon is full-swing, many of us will spend the next couple of weeks glued to our tv screens. Whilst sports can bring people together, their governance can often seem either overly complicated or almost non-existent. During last weeks’ CGI Annual Conference, I attended a panel discussion on behalf of Fidelio Partners: Does compliance with governance codes lead to improved culture and better decision making? The panel was focused on the compositional and behavioural elements of boards in sport and whether governance codes can improve behaviour and decision making. It concluded that since the introduction of more stringent governance codes and funding requirements in 2016: behaviour had improved, boards had become more diverse and that decision-making was more agile. Nevertheless, the panel stressed that governance codes “are an enabler of success, but not a guarantor of it" and that Boards should remain committed to prioritising good behaviour, diversity of thought and agile decision-making regardless of the industry code that they are bound by. Worthwhile to think about whilst we watch all of the amazing sport happening this summer. #governance #Board #codes #sport #cgi #annualconference

The trend of cost overruns in the Olympic Games is a major concern for host cities, with every one of the last 60 Games exceeding its initial budget. However, there is evidence suggesting that cost overruns reduced after the introduction of The Olympic Games Knowledge Management (OGKM) developed IOC to facilitate the transfer of knowledge between Organising Committees of the Olympic Games (OCOGs). Initiated during the preparations for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, the OGKM program aims to capture and share the extensive knowledge gained from hosting the Games, thereby supporting future host cities in their planning and execution efforts. With the #Brisbane2032 Olympics on the horizon, we have a unique opportunity to leverage data standards and advanced technologies to further close the knowledge gap. By using data and advanced technologies as a tool for knowledge management, Brisbane can harness insights that have not been fully utilised previously. This approach can ensure financial viability and make Brisbane 2032 an historic success.
