🌱 European Project SUN.RICE: Sustainable Building Block from Rice Processing Waste and Alkali-Activated Materials 🌱 🔬 We are excited to announce the launch of the European project SUN.RICE, funded by the IN TRANSIT Develop Call (Horizon Europe, GA. No. 101091494). The project is coordinated by Ferrari BK, TESELA Materiales Innovación y Patrimonio and CETMA will act as a partner of the project. 🎯 The goal of SUN.RICE is to scale up the production of an innovative, eco-sustainable, and cement-free building block made from rice processing agro-waste. This project also explores the use of alternative aggregates and Alkali Activated Materials (AAMs). Happy to share our research work at the 8th EURASPHALT & EUROBITUME CONGRESS RESILIENCE - SUSTAINABILITY – INNOVATION, Budapest, Hungary. Wim van der Goes will present our paper “PAN FIBRES AS AN ALTERNATIVE FOR POLYMERS IN POROUS ASPHALT”. He will discuss the advantages of the addition of polyacrylonitrile fibres in Porous Asphalt 8 (PA 8) with pen grade bitumen 70/100 in comparison with the use of PmB. The most important benefits of PA 8 with pen grade bitumen 70/100 and polyacrylonitrile fibres in comparison with PA 8 with PmB are: -      a 4 year longer lifespan -      38% lower environmental impact -      fewer emissions during the production and laying process -     lower production temperature, which saves energy.
