This Earth Day, we’re not only celebrating our planet; we’re also marking a significant milestone with the Bellingham Waterfront District Energy Utility Plant project. This pioneering initiative is the first independent utility in Washington state in over 130 years. It sets a new benchmark by not only meeting but surpassing the stringent requirements of the Washington State Energy Code, one of the most demanding in North America. This project is powered by low-carbon energy sources, ensuring clean, reliable heating and cooling for Waterfront customers. The innovation and hard work invested in the Bellingham project have now simplified the path for others to follow in its footsteps. As we honor Earth Day, we also celebrate the strides we’ve made with the Bellingham Waterfront project. It’s a shining example of how we can achieve sustainability and efficiency, setting the stage for a cleaner, more resilient future.
