I expanded my knowledge significantly during my attendance of the second workshop of the Africa SDG's Mentorship Programme, thanks to the excellent presentation by #KeagetsweAlexKgotlaetsile on Agenda 2063. My key takeaways include: The African Union Agenda 2063 is a strategic framework for the socio-economic transformation of the continent over a 50-year period, from 2013 to 2063. It aims to accelerate the implementation of past and existing continental initiatives for growth and sustainable development. The agenda envisions an integrated, prosperous, and peaceful Africa, driven by its citizens and representing a dynamic force in the global arena. Key aspirations of Agenda 2063 include: A prosperous Africa based on inclusive growth and sustainable development. An integrated continent, politically united and inspired by Pan-Africanism and the vision of Africa’s Renaissance. An Africa of good governance, democracy, respect for human rights, justice, and the rule of law. A peaceful and secure Africa. An Africa with a strong cultural identity, common heritage, values, and ethics. An Africa where development is people-driven, unleashing the potential of women and youth. Africa as a strong, united, and influential global player and partner. #AIIDEVAfrica #AfricanUnion #Agenda2063

Have you ever wondered how Africa has progressed so far on the SDGs that's supposed to foster development in the continent? According to the latest reports from the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, African countries are showcasing diverse progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Here's some tea about the progress: 1. Notable strides towards achieving the SDGs, though challenges remain for some nations. 2. 3% of African countries have committed to or are exploring net-zero emissions targets. 3. Strengthening institutions like parliaments (SDG 16) has been vital in addressing key development issues. 4. Low Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) continues to be a significant barrier to further progress For more insights, you can access DR's analysis and infographic here: buff.ly/3YqNRcb

After our sharing session on the African Union Agenda 2063 as part of the African Mentorship Program, we were able to highlight the following elements: The African Union's (AU) "Agenda 2063" program and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are two distinct but complementary initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development and prosperity in Africa. Convergence and complementarity Harmonization of objectives: Agenda 2063 and the SDGs share common objectives, such as eradicating poverty, promoting health and education, and combating inequality. - Regional and global approach**: Agenda 2063 is specifically oriented towards Africa's needs and aspirations, while the SDGs are global in scope. - Partnerships and synergies**: Both programs encourage collaboration between governments, the private sector, civil society and international partners to achieve the SDGs.

Attending the launch of the 2024 Africa Sustanable Development Report at the #HLPF2024. The report explores the continents progress across SDGs 1, 2, 13, 16, and 17 within the broader 2063 Agenda on the Africa we want. The continent is unfortunately regressing with only 6% of the 32 measurable targets on track. The continent is unlikely to achieve the SDGs without enhanced multilateralism, scaled concessional development and transformative domestic reforms; Sightsavers

From 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to African Union Agenda 2063, the importance of industrialization has been recognized for African countries in economic growth, technology innovation, poverty eradication and employment creation. As we observe the Africa Industrialization Day today, and in light of the Third Industrial Development Decade for Africa (2016-2025) proclaimed by the General Assembly in 2016, I encourage the international community to actively support the industrialization in Africa, and to firmly anchor the African continent on a path towards inclusive and sustainable industrial development.

💬 "This specific [ACP Business-Friendly] project is supporting the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) to enhance the quality impact of #FDI in the country. There are different FDIs investing in strategic sectors, but there is little effort and processes in place to monitor and assess their impact, also in terms of quality contribution to economic #development. So one challenge that the project is addressing is to create the necessary capacity inside the EIC to ensure that these FDIs are genuinely enabled and facilitated to maximize their economic contribution and qualitative impact towards the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs)." said Ms Aurelia Calabro, #UNIDO Representative and Director of the Regional Hub in Addis Ababa, #Ethiopia. ▶️ Watch the video below to learn more about the UNIDO Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) in Ethiopia and how the #ACPBizFriendly Programme, funded by the #EU and the Secretariat of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), fits within that vision.
