How important is arm movement in a jacket? In functional outerwear arm movement is one of the most important aspects. Due to the sublimation properties of disperse dyes, when the dye is heated, especially in dark-colored fabrics, such as polyester T-shirts, swimsuits and sportswear, when printing white or light-colored graphics and logos, color migration occurs easily due to sublimation. Special anti-sublimation powder is suitable for dark-colored polyester fabrics. It does not bleed and transparent background color, and prevents ink migration in dark-colored sublimation fabrics. Arash Kani gave me an idea in the comments of my recent Vaporfly CAD comparison post. He asked if CT scanning could see internal foam structures within a full shoe. At our current full shoe resolution, the answer is no. Those structures are simply too small. (often sub-micron) In carbon fiber plated shoes they're also too close to high density materials to resolve the small lattice-like features reliably. BUT I have a ton of worn out Vaporflys I'm never gonna race in again. I also have a super high resolution CT scanner. So, I sacrificed the back point of my old pair for science. Nike's ZoomX proprietary PEBAX foam is a marvel of modern materials science. It boasts impressive energy return (roughly 85% compared to traditional EVA at 60-65%) while remaining very lightweight. It's also far less susceptible to temperature fluctuations. Traditional EVA foams vary greatly in density based on internal temperature. PEBAX also varies by temperature, but much less.
