Here's a look back at the winning team of the Bio-based Innovation Student Challenge Europe competition BISC-E 2024 - "BioSurfers" from France 👏 As the national coordinators of the BISC-E competition in Latvia, we would like to highlight BioSurfers Sajjad Malekzadeh's inspiring quote: "Challenge yourself, because you will learn a huge amount. It makes you think outside the lab or workshop and consider what is important to consumers, the market and the companies you might be working with. For bio-based products, we really need that, because many consumers are concerned about the safety and sustainability of the products they use." 💡 As the new BISC-E call is about to open, we encourage young researchers to accept the challenge and participate with their bio-based, potentially world-changing innovations 💪 In 2024, we were proud to see the Latvian team "B-CharGen" with our colleague Kalvis Liepins make it to the Top5, and we are looking forward to seeing what the next year will bring!

The SUSTRACK journey to prioritising #barriers hindering the #transition to a #Circular #BioBased #Economy has reached its destination. 🛤️🔚 Discover the methodology behind our results! ▶️It all started with an extensive literature review. This research not only identified barriers, but also categorised them across six key dimensions: 📖 Cultural 💰 Economic 🌿 Environmental 🏛️ Governance 🏗️ Structural ⚙️ Technical With a focus on four carbon-intensive sectors— #construction, #chemical, #plastics, and #textile — our researchers built upon this foundation through a broad stakeholder consultation process. 👥 🎙️ First, the barriers were validated in a co-creation workshop, followed by interviews with 20 experts in the bio-based economy field to refine and expand the findings. 📊 Next, these barriers informed the development of a comprehensive survey for a broader stakeholder consultation.
