Empowered children are resilient children. Teach your children how to escape on their own in case you cannot help them. ✅ They must use the stairs to escape, not the elevator, if you live in an apartment. ✅ Teach them to feel the door before escaping. ✅ If the door feels cool, unlock the door and check outside. ✅ Practice using the exit stairs. And make your kids partners in your family's emergency response planning. Let them have a voice in what goes into the Go-Bag and the correct use of the products/equipment contained therein. https://www.ready.gov/kids

You want to prepare and be ready for everything, but are your children prepared if there is a disaster or emergency? In the event of an emergency, would your child/children know what to do? Start small with your kids, such as ensuring your child knows how and when to call 911, identify themselves, and provide their location. Also, familiarize them with emergency alerts explaining the sound of different sirens and what to do when your child hears each one.
