Interest and engagement in Humanitarian Innovative Finance (HIF) is growing because it provides significant untapped potential to facilitate new solutions to vulnerability in fragile contexts. This is crucial as current humanitarian funding models are insufficient to address the accelerating scale, complexity and protracted nature of crises. In advance of the Grand Bargain discussions this week, HPG and ODI’s review finds that HIF is one important tool for bringing new resourcing for new solutions to these persistent, and growing, challenges. The humanitarian sector At a crossroads: Rapid onset disasters, Protracted crises - often manmade -conflict - Compounding stressors of Climate change, displacement, demographic pressures, health, economic and food insecurity, Skyrocketing humanitarian needs, Shrinking “traditional donors” budgets.. The need for innovation, Different resource base - both Financial and technical - Creative, effective, new ways of working, of partnering, of leveraging…is obvious. So we know it. The AU #CivicTechFund is a step closer to selecting its winners! The AU Civic Tech Fund #AUCTF2024 is a 12-month initiative which seeks to catalyse and scale innovative civic tech solutions that harness the power of technology to drive citizen-led transformative action across the African continent. Here's the selection process of the #AUCTF: ✔ the candidates who are preselected based on the eligibility criteria are forwarded to the selection committee ✔ the committee will review applications and vote for the top 15 applicants ✔ the selection committee then sends a recommendations report to the steering committee ✔ the steering committee will further evaluate, and a final decision on the grantees.  Stay tuned to get to know the winners of the selection!
