Gurratan Singh, a former member of the Ontario Provincial Parliament and an alumni of McMaster Religious Studies, met with our students today. he discussed the value of social sciences & the humanities with us. For me, the key message was rhe following: 🌎 Religious Studies..offers perspectives to analyze how people understand the world. 🌏 ... what are people's real problems. 🌍 ... how right and wrong exist in the world. Consequently, studying religion helps to connect with different people and their experiences. #highereducation #leadership #religion

Today I would like to share this paper I have published a couple of months ago. This philosophical reflection explores coloniality through the lens of gender, complementing Nelson Maldonado-Torres' focus on race. It argues that gender is central to understanding colonial domination. It starts examining how gender relations shaped colonial power structures and then it explores how colonialism impacted gender roles among the colonizers. Afterwards, the article analyzes the influence of this "patriarchal colonial matrix" on academic philosophy. The reflection concludes by proposing avenues for further research on this topic. -Originally published on "Espirales", philosophy magazine of University of Cartagena, Colombia- 🤓 https://lnkd.in/gjnCzX4N

☑️ *READ TEXT BELOW:* Ancient political philosophy is understood here to mean ancient Greek and Roman thought from the classical period of Greek thought in the fifth century BCE to the end of the Roman empire in the West in the fifth century CE, excluding the development of Jewish and Christian ideas about politics during that period. Political philosophy as a genre was developed in this period by Plato and, in effect, reinvented by Aristotle: it encompasses reflections on the origin of political institutions, the concepts used to interpret and organize political life such as justice and equality, the relation between the aims of ethics and the nature of politics, and the relative merits of different constitutional arrangements or regimes. Platonic models remained especially important for later authors throughout this period, even as the development of later “Hellenistic” schools of Greek philosophy, and distinctively Roman forms of philosophical adaptation, offered new frameworks for construing politics from a philosophical point of view. Engagement in these Greek and Roman traditions of political philosophy among late antique scholars continued through and beyond the eventual abdication of the last pretenders to the Roman imperial throne in the Western part of the empire in 476 CE, and further still among medieval scholars and their successors writing in Greek, Latin, Hebrew, and (later on) Arabic Lane, Melissa, "Ancient Political Philosophy", The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (Summer 2023 Edition), Edward N. Zalta & Uri Nodelman (eds.), URL = <https://lnkd.in/drqsW8EP>. #Gesundheit #Bildung #Fuehrung #Coaching #Mindset #Motivation #Gehirn #Neuroscience #Psychologie #Persoenlichkeitsentwicklung #Kindheit #KeyNoteSpeaker #Humangenetik #Biochemie #Neuroleadership #Ernaehrung #Transformation #Stress #Demografie #Gender #Age #interkulturelleKompetenz #Epigenetik #Veraenderung #EmotionaleIntelligenz #Change #Gesellschaft #Organisationsentwicklung #Philosophie #Beratung # Quantum

University of Oxford [10] Great interests by the guys but well - a sense of urgency would be welcome ... ... [1]debt - the love of money is the root of all evil [2]populism - has hatred (divisiveness) at its core [3]euthanasia - not in line with religion - the desire to take one's own life is indicative of a path into disease resulting from life in Hell (the world we live in currently) [4]environmental justice - just as taking one's own life is not in line with religion - destroying the environment - since it results in human life supports failing - pretty much the same thing [5]racism - see populism divisiveness above [6]humanitarianism - the world that religion has in mind of people having adopted love as motivation [7]church-state relations - the state is a false construct [8]theological significance of biological origins - abstraction layers entail that to be human we need not consider animal origins - the animal has no mind in the sense that man may [9]machine learning - just a tool that's great in the hands of wisdom and catastrophic otherwise [10]mediation in Christian theology - requires an understanding of semantics and how the structure of a Mind defines semantic context of words/ideas.
