I ran 1,000 simulations of the College Football Playoff using my log-linear Poisson model and examined the predicted spreads for the first round and the subsequent bowl games. Here are some key takeaways from the model: - Texas appears to be the clear favorite to win the title. - The metrics strongly favor Notre Dame as an unexpected title contender. -12th seed Clemson might be a dark horse to make a run. - Oregon may be overrated, or they could have the toughest road to the championship. - Arizona State and Boise State have virtually no chance of winning, even with a bye. Model Round 1 Lines: Texas -8 vs. Clemson Ohio State -8 vs. Tennessee Penn State -18 vs. SMU Notre Dame -16 vs. Indiana Model Quarterfinals Lookahead Lines: Fiesta Bowl SMU -1 vs. Boise State Penn State -19 vs. Boise State Peach Bowl Clemson -26 vs. Arizona State Texas -31 vs. Arizona State Rose Bowl Ohio State -6 vs. Oregon Oregon -3 vs. Tennessee Sugar Bowl Notre Dame -1 vs. Georgia Georgia -21 vs. Indiana I can’t wait for these games.

For @mwlynn1022 (Randolph Macon Commit) the offseason was not only prepping for this upcoming high school season, but also helping improve his skills that would play at the collegiate level in the fall. The three skills we focused on were: velocity, command and slider consistency. For velocity, we worked on improving how well and how fast he could rotate. Compared to last offseason, he made some great improvements: Sinker peak velo is up 2.9 MPH, average sinker velo is up 3 MPH and was higher than his 2022-2023 offseason peak velo! He also topped 82 MPH in his first outing - something he didn’t accomplish until the summer last year. In regards to command, we used @drivelinebaseball Command Training Balls and Intended Zone to improve his command while seeing his median miss distance on each pitch. Mason’s work and openness to try different strategies led to great results! Highlights from command training include: Decreased median miss distance on each pitch, improved Dotted% (miss of 6 inches or less) on each pitch and a decrease in his Non-Comp% (miss greater than 20 inches) on 2 pitches! Lastly, Mason has the ability to throw a sweeper, so we wanted to get his horizontal break to average at least 10”. We didn’t get to our goal mark but he got a better feel for the sweeper and we increased our average HB by 3.3 inches! I can’t wait to see how all these improvements transfer to games the rest of the season!

6 Ways To Shut Down Ball Screens - From 1,000 Game Winner and 3x National Champion Coach In this video you will learn 6 ways to defend ball screens from Hall of Fame Basketball Coach Danny Miles! Coach Miles then takes you through a breakdown drill of 6 methods to defend ball screens. Danny Miles even shows you in what situations you might use the different types of defensive ball screen methods. Coach Miles' teams were known for being tough to score against with teams shooting a low percentage against him. This is a big reason that he won over 1,000 games and won 3 national championships during his tenure at Oregon Tech. His various ball screen defenses is just one of the reasons his teams were great defensively. NOTE: Youth coaches: You certainly don’t want to practice all of these ball screen methods. You should focus on hedging at first. Once proficient, you can incorporate some switching as well.
