Back in 2022, I reached out to Media Fight Night, not knowing what I was getting myself into. At the time, a heavy smoker, weighing in at 18 stone, and feeling stuck. Seeing peers post about their own journeys into the ring every year on LinkedIn sparked something in me—I thought maybe boxing could be a way to reset, get fit, and shake things up a bit. But what I’ve learned has gone so far beyond that initial goal. When I first stepped into the gym, it was rough. My footwork was off, I could barely throw a jab, and everything felt unnatural. I was nowhere near “fight-ready.” But somewhere in the process, boxing became more than just a fitness goal; it became a powerful routine that tested and shaped me. It was the ultimate reminder that we can always improve with effort, discipline, and resilience. Now, with just days to go, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. 24ish months of training come down to a few rounds in the ring, and knowing I’ll be out there with all eyes on me is intimidating. The idea of facing my opponent, Dory Tse, who’s trained just as hard, is a lot to think about. But despite the nerves, I know that every tough training has prepared me for this. I’m ready to put it all out there. The discipline this journey has taught me is something I carry with me every day. I wasn’t chosen for the squad in 2023, which was hard. Many people train all year and don’t make the final 16. Starting over after that was tough, but the desire to return better has been my biggest motivator. If anything, boxing has taught me that resilience is everything. The injuries, setbacks, and long training hours have shown me how much you can overcome when you commit fully to something. As the fight draws closer, I’m looking forward to stepping into the ring and giving it my all—not just for myself, but for Carney's Community and the amazing support they offer to kids in South London who need a guiding hand. If you’d like to support us, please consider donating to our fundraising page; your generosity means the world to all the boxers and charity and your words of encouragement are a massive motivator. https://lnkd.in/dznGBK4U Thanks to everyone who’s been following this journey. Now, it's time to see what these months of training can really do. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a win on November 7th! 🥊💪 If you haven't heard, as I know, tickets are gold dust, the event will be streamed on YouTube (I'll pop the link in the comments). A final shout-out to this year's incredible squad ❤️ , coaches and support system: I'm going to take a couple of days off to get my mind in the fight zone. 🙌 Help Para Rowing Foundation celebrate an epic achievement by 4 high school athletes in Washington DC! Para Rowing Foundation is a non-profit with a global mission; to power athletes with impairments around the world to fulfil their potential through rowing by creating access, opportunities and inclusion. We can only fund initiatives through the generous donations of supporters like you. How delighted were we then to recieve notice that a group of non-para rowers in the States decided to do something epic to support para rowing… and PRF were selected as the fundraising beneficiary. ‘Epic’ looked like a 24-hour session on the rowing machine in 1-hour shifts, live-streamed. ‘Epic’ looked like more than a third-of-a-million metres covered, non-stop. ‘Epic’ looked like $3,450 raised through their supporters, way beyond their $2k target. ‘Epic’ looked like 2 super-subs on hand to step in when needed in order to keep that erg spinning for a full day, Ethan Puckett and Brandon Lo. The young crew (some of which had never met beforehand) overcame mental, physical and even electrical challenges (a power cut midway demanded neighbours to get creative by running power cables down the street!) and stayed motivated enough to complete the job. PRF’s Chair got straight onto a vcall with 3 of the crew to hear the story first-hand and was blown away by their experience, achievement and desire to support para rowing. “Truly epic! It was the first time these guys took on such an endurance rowing challenge but I don’t think it’ll be the last. We’re honoured that they chose to support para athletes through work of PRF. We’ll put the funds they raised to work right away!” -🟢 Steven Dowd, Executive Chair, PRF Join PRF in congratulating and thanking: 👏Ethan Smith of Langley Crew 👏Dillan Pakes of Warhawk Crew 👏Liam Ballew of Warhawk Crew 👏Justin Blagrove of Wakefield Crew Do you have an epic fundraising idea you’d like to share? Would you like to support para athletes globally through the work of PRF? Please let us know at info@pararowingfoundation.org. #ParaRowing #CharityChallenge #Fundraising

What started as a promising Saturday for our charity golf outing turned into an unexpected challenge when my sister (Elizabeth Nottling) and I got the call at 6:30am that the course was flooded from the rain the night before. But, in just a couple of hours, we were able to pivot and turn the day into a fantastic indoor trivia event with a full meal, raffle, and silent auction! The transition wasn't easy, but it was a powerful reminder of the importance of adaptability and resilience in the face of adversity. Instead of getting frustrated with the weather, we focused on making the most of the situation. By coming together and thinking creatively, we were able to ensure the success of the event and continue supporting our cause. The majority of registered golfers still attended the event and all had a great time with our impromptu trivia challenge. This experience serves as a valuable lesson for all aspects of life and work: when faced with unexpected obstacles, don't get mad or give up. Find a way to make it work, look forward, and take action. The ability to adapt and persevere can turn any challenge into an opportunity for success. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and supported us! Your enthusiasm and flexibility made this event a memorable one. Together, we showed that with a positive mindset and quick thinking, we can overcome any hurdle. 💪🌟 Details about the JCMHSF can be found in the comments. #charityevent #adaptability #resilience #teamwork #leadership #sisterpower

From ICU to Ironman Kona 3 months ago, I faced my toughest challenge, serious illness put me in Intensive care. With my organs failing and a 50/50 chance of survival, my life was on the line.… I’m now on the road to recovery #backstronger. As an 11-time Ironman and endurance athlete, I was training for my 12th Ironman when this happened. Now, I’m not only focused on returning to the sport, but also raising over £20,000 for UK based charities. 💪 How can you help? Your support will not only aid in my journey back to the race but also have a lasting impact on charity partners, helping causes that matter. Here’s how you can get involved: • Donations of £500+ will be recognized on social media and featured on my race day triathlon suit. • Donations of £1,000+ include all the above, plus an opportunity to collaborate on content. • The largest donor can select a charity to receive 50% of all funds raised. This is more than a personal comeback story—it’s a chance to inspire and give back. If you or your organization want to be part of this journey, I’d love to connect and discuss further. https://gofund.me/3f7247a2 If you can’t donate… please share my story. Let’s make a real impact together. 🙌 #Ironman #Resilience #Endurance #Charity #COVIDRecovery #Inspiration #AthleteJourney #Fundraising

Day 24/49 RebootCampVAChallenge 💪🏾 Boxing Day 🥊 | The Power of Giving Back As the holiday festivities continue, Boxing Day reminds us of the value of giving back a gesture that goes beyond gifts and into the heart of building connections and creating impact. In both personal and professional spaces, generosity can take many forms: sharing knowledge, offering support, or extending a helping hand to someone in need. These acts of kindness not only strengthen relationships but also fuel growth both for those receiving and for you. When we give sincerely, we create ripple effects that inspire others to do the same. Whether it’s mentoring a colleague, donating to a cause, or simply showing appreciation, generosity builds bridges and fosters a sense of community. Today, I reflect on how giving back has enriched my life and career, reminding me that true success lies in uplifting others. How are you giving back this season? I’d love to hear your thoughts! #49daysvalinkedinbootcampwithtma #day24ofvalinkedinbootcamp #linkedinforcreators #GivingBack #CommunityImpact

🧩✨ #AutismAwareness Top 36 Golf Course Rankings: Post 20 - Course #17⛳️ 🧩 💰 DONATE - Please help us get there by donating $36 today: https://lnkd.in/e4MFcQfd To represent the 1 in 36 kids affected by Autism in the US, I will be counting down my Top 36 Golf Courses that I have ever played with a short story/memory for each. If you could please consider donating $36 (or more) to Els for Autism via the link above, I would appreciate it ❤️ Golf Course #17 - Ohoopee Match Club As we make our way to course #17, we go to play one of the newest golf courses on my list, Ohoopee Match Club. Opening in 2018, Ohoopee is found in the rural town of Cobbtown, GA and was designed by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner. It is owned by successful businessman and golf enthusiast, Michael Walrath, who at age 32 sold his company, Right Media, to Yahoo. Often recognized by its unique “onion” logo, the land on which the course sits used to be a successful onion farm. This type of soil and dunes lends itself to be the perfect turf for excellent golf course conditions, often playing firm and fast to challenge the golfer’s creativity. The word that comes to mind when thinking about the Ohoopee experience is FUN - the lodging, food, service, caddies, and course are amazing and create a memorable weekend. One of the most unique things about Ohoopee is that the course has 22 holes in total with two different 18-hole routings, the championship routing and the whiskey routing, which enables you to have a totally different round while playing on the same property. One other unique aspect that caught me off guard is there are no tee markers. This is by design as the course is meant to be played with Match Play, allowing the golfer with honors to choose how he/she wants the hole to be played. I was amazed by Ohoopee and “the hang” it creates, which has proven to be the successful modern course model that many other courses now are trying to immulate. If you go to play Ohoopee soon, I have no doubt that you will have an amazing time ⛳️
