Canada is a major market for U.S. beef and pork, but regulatory issues sometimes delay shipments. The transition to the Public Health Information System (PHIS) was meant to simplify the export process, but it has led to new documentation challenges. Yet, within these challenges, the emergence of large-scale producers marks a significant shift in the industry’s landscape. The landscape of Chinese pork production is recalibrating, paving the way for a transformed sector driven by major players.

Views sought on how to provide more targeted support for red meat exporters International trade development has long been one of the cornerstones of AHDB’s work – something that our levy payers have told us they value highly and would like to see more of. In my blog, I reveal plans for a new export knowledge hub. We are in the early stages of developing our export knowledge hub, and we are interested in hearing views from the industry on where they have gaps in knowledge and what training they might benefit from. This will inform how we develop the hub and make sure we focus on tailoring content specifically to exporters’ needs. To do this, we’ve created a survey for the industry, seeking views from red meat businesses. We will use the feedback to develop a knowledge hub that provides essential information to support businesses interested in shipping products to markets around the world. NPPC recently testified before the House Ways and Means Committee to discuss South Africa’s challenges in meeting AGOA commitments. Since the 2015 AGOA reauthorization, their strict standards have affected U.S. pork exports. We urge lawmakers to strengthen the enforcement mechanisms in the upcoming AGOA reauthorization to ensure fair market access for U.S. pork producers for years to come: https://lnkd.in/eXCX4haa
