Next up in our Christmas countdown is Potash Farm, a 155-acre site just outside Milton Keynes. What makes Potash Farm stand out: Originally acquired in 2018, we have recently expanded Potash Farm by securing an additional 15.3-acre field, bringing the total landholding to 155 acres. Strategically located near the expanding north-west boundary of Milton Keynes, a city expected to double in size over the next 30 years. We are committed to renewable energy, with 5MW of solar generation starting construction on part of the site in January. Once built, it is expected to generate enough electricity for more than 1,800 homes, resulting in a reduction of more than 2,300 tonnes of carbon emissions per year. We are exploring sustainable agricultural practices such as vertical farming, carbon capture opportunities, as well as growing willow trees for cricket bat production. There is also 80MW of battery storage on site. With the recent appointment of Thomas Sater, our Head of RO Energy, we are looking to expand our portfolio of generating assets and consider further site acquisitions to meet the growing demand for renewable energy. '“You can reduce heat stress to plants by watering them more or shading them some,” Higgins said. “If you shade them some—which is what you’re going to do, for example, in a Wyoming project that’s on non-irrigated lands—you’re going to reduce some of that heat stress on those plants. Those plants tend to grow a little more, and as they grow a little more, the sheep take advantage of them.” The study found that, while the sheep grazing near the solar panels experienced a 38 percent drop in the quantity of grazable vegetation, that was offset by an increase in the available plants’ quality, as measured by the nutritional makeup of the vegetation’s tissue.
