This week, our team visited ESB at Carrington Power Station as part of our ongoing Customer Roadshow. Since 2016 Carrington has been powering more than 1 million homes and businesses in the Greater Manchester area, the gas fired power station is one of the most efficient thermal plants in the UK. ESB is committed to achieving net zero targets, aligning closely with the UK Government's Clean Power 2030 agenda. Central to this ambition is the role of hydrogen through the HyNet network. Hydrogen offers a transformative opportunity to support ESB’s decarbonisation efforts, helping it to meet national and global sustainability goals. By integrating hydrogen into its operations, ESB aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions, establishing Carrington as a blueprint for the future decarbonisation of other power plants in its portfolio. The first hydrogen fuel cell electric refuse truck has arrived!♻️🚛 Hyzon, New Way® Trucks, and Recology recently showcased North America's first hydrogen fuel cell electric refuse truck to key leaders, including U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Under Secretary David Crane, Governor Gavin Newsom, and Senator Alex Padilla. This event, hosted by the Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems (ARCHES), celebrated the official launch of a $12.6 billion investment to create a Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub in California. With $1.2 billion in federal funding and $11.4 billion in public and private investments, ARCHES is developing a vast hydrogen infrastructure, including 60 fueling stations and over 165 miles of pipelines, to decarbonize heavy-duty transport. Hyzon CEO Parker Meeks emphasized the pivotal role of government and public-private collaboration in accelerating clean energy innovation. This first-of-its-kind hydrogen refuse truck marks a key step in decarbonizing the waste management industry and scaling hydrogen-powered fleets. 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗣𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 $𝟭𝟲𝗠 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗥&𝗗 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲!   New York’s Governor, Kathy Hochul, has unveiled a whopping USD 16 million funding initiative for cutting-edge clean hydrogen projects. This move aims to spearhead research and development efforts geared towards creating cleaner industrial processes, revolutionizing transportation, bolstering energy storage, and reinforcing grid support.    The funding will be divided into two competitive rounds. The primary round, facilitated by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), will dole out a generous USD 11 million for ground-breaking R&D endeavours. An additional USD 5 million will serve as a collaborative support for New York-based projects vying for federal hydrogen funding.    Whether flying solo or teaming up, applicants can vie for glory in two categories: one spotlighting cutting-edge innovations and technologies, while the other seeks to champion pilot and demonstration projects.    NYSERDA winner will be crowned in the third quarter, with submissions closing on July 15, 2024. Meanwhile, first-come, first-served proposals for cost-sharing support will be accepted until June 26, 2024.
