I see this truth so often in my clients who talk about people they interview, date and have as friends. Listen to hear not to interpret. Take what they say at face value. Don’t justify it. If they tell you they are seeking to do a job that is not in the job description they aren’t passionate about doing the job at hand. If they tell you they aren’t interested in getting married believe them as your worth is not measured by if you can change their mind. On average, people have 12 jobs in their lifetime… I have had about 16 and Ral has had 12 so combined we have had to be interviewed a few times. 50% of those I coach are looking for their next role… So mastering the art of the interview is worth doing and in our latest episode, we share the interview musts and the must nots (Ral’s joke at the end for example!) Support Your Friends With A Debrief Many of us wish our friends good luck going into an interview type situation, but how do we support them after the event? We can do much better than “how’d it go?” Asking ernest questions in the form of a debrief after an interview or big meeting might help your buddy improve their understanding of themselves, shed light on strength they didn’t realize they had, or better prepare for questions that commonly trip them up. So many of us don’t realize powerful attributes that we are valued for, or relied upon by other teammates. It’s the gift of outside perspective that just might shake a friend out of a tough spot mentally! Try to truly support by setting up debrief meetings 👊🏻❤️ • what went well? • where did you slip up? • what did you realize? • what did you learn? • what could you have done differently? • if you have another shot or opportunity how will you answer differently?
