As we wrap up the core modules of ifada 5.0, we are thrilled to share the incredible progress made by our fellows. They have dedicated themselves to refining their models by applying the fundamental concepts learned during the program. This period has been instrumental in further developing their entrepreneurial ideas and understanding essential principles. In the spirit of growth and collaboration, each fellow has engaged with the internal team at Beyond Capital and presented their concepts to our esteemed mock IC members: Paola Ravacchioli & Kheiry Amr. These interactions have provided valuable feedback, guiding our fellows towards enhancing their ventures. Looking ahead, we are excited to announce the launch of the next phase of our program: "Inspirational Insights." (6/8)...Building onto my postgraduate studies in Innovation and Enterprise Development at Trinity College Dublin. This sixth workshop of the Innov8rs.co Q3-series of Learning Labs was on Climate/SDG. I would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the speakers, organisers, and the host Juana-Catalina Rodriguez, Founder at JnC Nova for the great workshop. Focusing on ‘Decarbonization Scenarios: Building Future Resilience with Strategic Foresight', presented by: Elvin Ibishli, Manager at Rohrbeck Heger - Strategic Foresight + Innovation by Creative Dock; and Emily Phillips, Marketing and Communications Lead at Rohrbeck Heger - Strategic Foresight + Innovation by Creative Dock. My key takeaways were: • Foresight innovation has three key stages: Perceiving emerging trends, market direction, and future scenarios; Prospecting the strategies the organisation has available; and Probing innovation opportunities. • To come up with moonshot scenarios for innovation, use the STEEP framework to outline 25 trends, and then use a scenario cross diagram to focus on the high impact and economically viable solutions. • When looking at future scenarios for potential innovations, also consider how those innovations will impact the broader market, and form strategic alliances to brace for the market's change. Looking ahead, I’m very excited to share my learnings next week from the final two workshops in this series on Culture & Capabilities, and Talent & Teams. It’s been a pleasure learning from all of you thus far, and I’m keen on learning even more. Great to be in the #SumantraGhoshal conference organized by my London Business School #Strategy_Entrepreneurship colleagues, and share my recent work with The Wharton School's John Paul MacDuffie and Temple University's C Jennifer Tae on #RevisitingDisruption, drawing on innovations in #automobile production and #mobility services as a deep-dive. What we find is that the rhetoric of disruption is vastly overplayed - with misunderstandings sometimes propagated by the way we teach management and innovation. Extending J.A Schumpeter's work on entrepreneurially-driven settings (which academics call #MarkI) and those dominated by big firms (dubbed #MarkII), we see a new, consistent landscape emerge in many sectors, starting with automobiles and mobility, which we call #MarkIII, where * Incumbents (especially those in "physical" sectors) keep their place by expanding the scope of their capabilities organically and by acquisitions * Physical blends with digital through webs of interlocking #ecosystems, with #BigTech playing an important role * Entrepreneurial firms grow with the key aim to be acquired or enter in the orbit of key ecosystems, thus ensuring perseverance of existing players * Big Tech and physical / phygital incumbents are involved in a tug-of-war driven by the #UI_UX which is #BigTech's province We'd love to hear back - the early version of the paper available as part of Evolution Ltd's White Paper series #sharetheword #conferencefun #homeground #researchmatters

A glimpse at an up-and-coming project. We've spent the last six months working with a wide group of people and orgs across Cambridge and the surrounding region trying to answer one simple question: what's the region's secret sauce? Yes, it has one of the world's most foremost Universities at its core - but around that has grown a vast innovation ecosystem of 5,000 knowledge based firms, over 60 multinationals, three dozen research parks and five hospital trusts working together with a vibrant investor and start-up community. By many metrics, Cambridge IS the innovation capital of Europe – from an investor's perspective, this is a place where £1 can often become £17 and it holds more Nobel prizes per capita than anywhere else on the planet. Yet the way the ecosystem described itself varied hugely from one part to another, hampering its ability to present a united front. Our task has been to encapsulate all of this and to work with a wide-ranging team from across the education, council, innovation and investor communities to agree one single way to describe this. We shared the first glimpse of this work at the Innovate Cambridge summit this week. With less than 200 words, one headline (Cambridge: Where Innovation Makes History) and the judicious use of John Venn's famous diagram (himself a Cambridge University alum), we think we've made a start.
