Honoring the Land and Its Peoples: A Reflection of Gratitude and Responsibility As we work to support healthier relationships through Secure Connections Retreats and Secure Connections Coaching, we are mindful of the land on which we live and operate—and the Indigenous peoples who have cared for these lands for generations. In Seattle, Washington, we acknowledge the unceded land of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the Duwamish Tribe and the Suquamish Tribe. Their stewardship of the land and waters since time immemorial deserves recognition and respect. In West Newbury, Massachusetts, we honor the Pawtucket and Pentucket peoples, part of the Algonquian-speaking Indigenous communities, whose resilience and contributions continue to shape this region’s history and legacy. This acknowledgment is a small step—a beginning—not an end. It reminds us of the privilege we hold and the historical and ongoing injustices faced by Indigenous peoples. As we reflect this Thanksgiving, we are committed to actions that support equity, justice, and inclusion.
