This funding as part of the U.S. Department of Commerce NOAA’s Ocean Enterprise Initiative. I cannot overstate what a transformative effect for the Blue Economy this funding will have for our region and beyond. As the Executive Director of TMA BlueTech™ I’m incredibly honored and proud to be a key collaborator in this groundbreaking initiative. This funding enables the creation of the StartBlue Ocean Enterprise Accelerator, a platform that will support ocean-based startups from across the nation, leveraging San Diego’s unparalleled assets. Startup Extreme has concluded for this time. The weather couldn't have been better, and the power of the wind provided good momentum for Simen's eco-friendly journey over the mountains from Finse to Hemsedal. Crossing the valley of death for climate tech innovations: That was the title of the panel discussion Nysnø's Simen Malmin participated in during this year's Startup Extreme. To achieve the climate targets by 2030 and move towards a zero-emission society by 2050, we need to bridge the gap between early innovation and commercial scaling of climate technology companies. 🌊 Exciting Developments in the Blue Economy! 🌊 The Biden-Harris Administration has announced the selection of four business accelerators to propel ocean innovation: 🚀 StartBlue Ocean Enterprise Accelerator Led by UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography and The Rady School of Management- Undergraduate Programs, this program supports the formation of advanced science and engineering startups addressing ocean-focused challenges. 🌊 gener8tor Great Lakes Resilience Accelerator Managed by gener8tor Management, LLC, this accelerator collaborates with partners such as Chain Reaction Innovations at Argonne National Laboratory, Current (a water innovation nonprofit), and Mazarine Ventures, a venture capital fund focused on water solutions. 🌐 VentureWell Ocean Enterprise Accelerator Operated by the NATIONAL COLLEGIATE INVENTORS & INNOVATORS ALLIANCE, INC. (dba VentureWell), this program is in the process of designing an accelerator to assist ocean-based climate resilience startups in overcoming commercialization challenges. ⚓ The Continuum A collaborative effort involving Tampa Bay Wave, Seaworthy Collective, St. Petersburg Innovation District, Braid Theory, University of South Florida, Ocean Exchange, and the World Ocean Council, this initiative aims to support ocean-focused startups and drive innovation in the blue economy. Green Accelerator fuels our collaborations with local municipalities! 🚀 Thanks to the Green Accelerator program, we've kicked off collaborations with Tõrva, Järva, and Häädemeeste municipalities in Estonia! This program has been instrumental in connecting us with local governments and enabling us to implement real-world solutions. We're looking forward to expanding our services to other municipalities in the new year. The Green Accelerator aims to support businesses with green technologies that contribute to a more sustainable future. 🌱 The program's pre-selection round included 20 startups, with the top 5 advancing to the main program.
