Random highlight from yesterday's munich creative business week Design Summit: Stefan Boerie's presentation featured a photo of Hundertwasser holding a tree in Milan. This moment was captured during the Milan Triennial in 1973, where Hundertwasser planted 15 trees within apartments — an impactful initiative known as the 'tree tenant demonstration.' Excited to see what's in store for Munich... #MCBW #DesignSummit #Hundertwasser #UrbanGreenery"

✨ Design That Honors the Past and Inspires the Present ✨ When creativity meets #sustainability, the results are breathtaking. The recently unveiled Aesop store in Barcelona, crafted by Spanish studio Mesura, exemplifies the power of thoughtful design and collaboration. Using 19th-century stone remnants from Barcelona's Gothic Quarter and beyond, Mesura transformed a single asymmetric room into a space that celebrates history while offering a modern #retail #experience. By carefully preserving the stone’s natural patina and designing without adhesives, the studio ensured the materials' historical significance remained intact and even reversible. This project is a testament to the importance of choosing partners who not only execute a vision but elevate it. From concept to execution, every detail aligns with Aesop's commitment to meaningful, context-driven spaces. As the fit-out industry continues to evolve, this project serves as a reminder: great spaces don’t just happen, they are the result of partnerships that respect both vision and material. #InteriorDesign #Sustainability #FitoutSolutions #CustomerExperience

In The Making... Every year, the people on our beautiful planet discard 2.12 BILLION TONNES of stuff. Why don't we value these items more? If we were to understand more about what went into each product - the time people spent designing, developing, crafting items, or even working in non-fancy factories on a production line. Or the time it took for the planet to grow, nurture or create those materials we use to create them, as well as the people who risk their lives to extract these materials, the people who care for the trees we fell and everyone involved between there and the factories? If we understood the hard work by both people and nature, would we think twice about discarding them so readily? We have had such fascinating conversations in the curation of this exhibition as part of Material Matters 2024, starting next Wednesday 18th September. We've asked our handpicked exhibitors, commercial manufacturing companies of varying scales, to peel back the polished facade of their brands and tell us their real stories. Because we believe, that if you know how large companies create jobs sustaining whole communities, prevent traditional craftmanship from being lost from a region, or invest in products which prevent ill health, then maybe people will want to look after that product, reuse it, and save it from waste. Please join us, read the stories from our exhibitors, including Florim Ceramiche, MARK Product | Certified B Corp, Modus | B Corp™, Arper and many more and hopefully learn something about commercial manufacture that might make you think or design a bit differently. 18th-21st September, Bargehouse (behind the Oxo Tower) tp bennett Christopher Webb Phil Towle Alex Webb
Explore the journey behind commercial products at this year’s Material Matters Fair, 18-21 September. We are thrilled to partner with The Furniture Practice to present In The Making, a curated exhibition within Room 12 at Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf, during London Design Festival. This exhibition will explore the ever-evolving relationship between materials, geography, people, and supply chains in the commercial sector. Designed and curated by tp bennett’s sustainability team in collaboration with TFP, In The Making examines the intricate details behind products from thirteen commercial furniture and interior brands, revealing the components, materials, and craftsmanship involved. A series of narrative zones will highlight the dedication of both humans and nature in bringing these products to market, encouraging discussions and fostering a deeper appreciation for how these items come to life and how we can value them for years to come. At the heart of the exhibition is a space for reflection and storytelling, which features demonstrations, inspiration sessions, workshops and presentations. Alongside this space is a festival bar created in partnership with Smile Plastics, showcasing the potential of waste materials. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see, learn, and connect with suppliers, makers, and industry friends. Entry to the fair is free for trade, but advance registration is essential, find out more here: https://lnkd.in/e9UH5tt8 Exhibitors include: Arper, Camira x SAS, Florim Ceramiche, Fredericia Furniture, Humanscale, MARK Product | Certified B Corp x Bisley Furniture, Modus | B Corp™, Normann Copenhagen, Solus, Reddie, Smile Plastics, SURU, and Atrium #MaterialMatters #LondonDesignFestival #InTheMaking #DesignExhibition

🌿 Why Live Plants Matter in Exhibition Stands 🌿 As a company dedicated to creating impactful exhibition stands, we believe in the power of nature to enhance our displays. Recently, I picked up this beautiful plant for our latest project, and it got me thinking about the benefits of using live plants instead of artificial ones. ✅ Enhanced Aesthetics: Live plants bring a vibrant, fresh look to any exhibition stand, creating a welcoming atmosphere that attracts visitors. ✅ Improved Air Quality: Plants naturally purify the air, making the environment more pleasant for everyone present. This can lead to longer stays and increased engagement. ✅ Sustainability: At our company, we’re committed to sustainability. We never throw away our plants after an exhibition; we care for them and repurpose them for future projects. This not only reduces waste but also promotes a greener image for our clients. ✅ Emotional Connection: Live plants evoke emotions and create memorable experiences. Visitors are more likely to remember a stand that feels alive and inviting. Next time you’re considering your exhibition design, think about incorporating live plants. They’re not just decor: they’re an investment in atmosphere and sustainability! Let’s create spaces that breathe life into our brand stories. 🌱 #ExhibitionDesign #LivePlants #Sustainability #EventMarketing #BrandExperience

🎥✨ Empheral Reflections – A Sustainable Exploration of Identity ✨🎥 Excited to share our project Empheral Reflections, created in collaboration with Paniz Nikkhah at HFBK Hamburg. This project delves into the fluid and ever-changing nature of identity, drawing parallels between the transient qualities of reflections and our evolving sense of self. We designed and crafted furniture exclusively using recyclable paper, merging sustainability with creativity to highlight impermanence and adaptability. This process challenged us to rethink the connection between design, identity, and environmental consciousness. Check out the video to see how we brought this concept to life! 🌍✨ #EmpheralReflections #SustainableDesign #HFBKHamburg #IdentityInDesign #RecyclableMaterials #CreativeCollaboration #EnvironmentalConsciousness #DesignWithPurpose #ArtAndDesign #StudentProjects #CircularDesign #EcoFriendlyFurniture #VisualStorytelling #DesignForChange

Stoane reuses exhibition stand at LIGHT 24 Sustainable luminaire maker Stoane Lighting is to reuse its stand at the LIGHT 24 exhibition in London. It will be the third year in a row in which it has deployed the rebuildable construction at the Building Design Centre. The move demonstrates to potential customers the firm’s environmental ethos and consistency in its values. The trend is also affecting international shows such as the Light + Building exhibition in Frankfurt. At the 2024 event earlier this year, a number of major lighting brand reused either most of all of their stands at the. ERCO, XAL and RZB Lighting were among the luminaire makers whose stands were constructed from previously used elements and were designed for future use. • Read more: Link in the comments • The Circular Lighting Report is powered by Recolight
