Is starting from scratch necessary when entering the German market as an international startup? 🤔 The short answer is: Basically, yes. Two weeks ago, our Ninja Jamaine played a part in the Startup Welcome Package, brilliantly orchestrated by Pioniergeist GmbH, Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart GmbH & STEYG. The Startup Welcome Package enables international Startups to enter the German market. And of course: How could we be missing in this process? 🥷🏻 Venturing into the German landscape is no small feat. The intricate tapestry of regulatory frameworks, cultural nuances, consumer behavior, and, not to forget, the language barrier, demands some adjustment🧐 To successfully enter and thrive in the German market, a recalibration of mindset is crucial: 1) Embrace the early-stage spirit, ready to learn and adapt. 2) Dive deep into understanding the local market dynamics and cultural context. 3) Tailor and fine-tune your value proposition to resonate with the German audience. 🎩 Hats off to these daring souls who venture into new markets with unyielding determination. Your journeys inspire and teach us the challenges of global entrepreneurship. A heartfelt thank you to the fantastic hosts - Winfried & Anke - as well as the amazing entrepreneurs we met 🙏 And most importantly: Thanks Jamaine for your great support in our team! 🥷🏻
Revenue Enablement & GTM | Helping Teams to grow from founder-led hustle to a team-led powerhouse | Speaking about Early Stage Sales
"Do we have to start all over again?" 🤯 It depends, but generally speaking: yes. This week, I had the great honor of joining the #StartupWelcomePackage program (powered by Pioniergeist GmbH, Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart GmbH, STEYG, and GoToMarket.Ninja) as a mentor for aspiring international startups from all over the world. 🔹 Their quest: enter the German market. 🔸 Their findings: the regulatory environment, cultural differences, consumer preferences, as well as the language barrier, require a lot of patience and rethinking every approach that worked so nicely before. 'cause se Germans just hit differently 🥊 Spending so many hours and learning about their challenges, but also feeling their drive and dedication, demonstrated, that entering a new market can mean starting all over again. The way forward? Taking a step back. Shifting into the early-stage mindset again. Getting to know the market and the people in that market. Sharpening the value message specifically for this market. It's as simple as that. Bearing in mind that they already have secured pole positions in their home markets such as Brazil, Estonia, Ireland, or Switzerland, makes it even juicier. 🎩 Chapeau to those, who do it anyway. We can learn a lot from you! Leonardo Joseph Gustavo Gabriel Oliver Hans 🇧🇷 🇪🇪 🇨🇭 🇮🇪 Also big thanks to Winfried, Anke, and Mujib for welcoming me so wholeheartedly and sharing your community home with me. I had a blast!

The BOLD Diaries - Day 1 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽. Today was our first working day in New York, during the BOLD Entrepreneurship Fellowship program. 🇺🇸 And where could we better feel the startup grind energy than in the WeWork coworking place in New York City?! Today's focus was on setting the goals and expectations for the few weeks that we get to spend in NYC. Something that we emphasized today was making connections. And as a student, I always try to explain to my peers this. Because I benefited from it and got some great opportunities for which I am grateful.👩💻 At school, they rarely teach you about the people component of every job that we do. And that for you to succeed you should learn how to surround yourself with people who can help you achieve your goals. Advice to every student, or anyone in general who hasn’t yet come to this understanding: 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲. For anyone not familiar with the BOLD program that I am participating in - in a nutshell, a program for students between 18 and 25 years old to develop their ideas in New York for four weeks and start their entrepreneurial careers. If anyone is curious to hear more about this program or my journey in general, write a comment or send a message. 🤗 I am happy to tell you more. And check out Entrepreneurs for Global Change and BOLD Serbia.

There are two things I love about attending tech events: the energy and the networking opportunities. But my journey to London Tech Week and the Scotch & Pitches event organised by Foras was anything but smooth. I was super excited to attend, but I almost got lost on my way to the venue. Therefore, I had to rely on my phone's Google Maps, which decided to act up at the worst possible time. When I finally arrived, I couldn't find my name on the registration list. But after a few tense moments, I realised I had registered under a different email. Therefore, I got in just in time for the pitches. The event was buzzing with energy and excitement, but what really stood out were the different pitching styles. Some startups were very technical, therefore focusing on data and metrics. But then, the founder of Generalist World, Milly Tamati took the stage and told an incredible story about her childhood. She shared how people always told her she couldn't be a generalist and be knowledgeable in different areas, therefore inspiring her to start her business. Her story resonated with me because I consider myself a generalist too. But it wasn't just her; many other founders like Janani Prabhakaran, Angela Prentner-Smith (FRSA), Eilidh Mutch used storytelling to connect with the investors, therefore making their pitches memorable. The Foras team Dec McLaughlin, Caro Melendez 🔜 Turing Fest / Slush, known for their work in supporting Scottish startups, outdid themselves with this event. But their dedication to fostering innovation was clear throughout. Therefore, it's no wonder they attracted such a diverse and talented group of founders and investors. Despite the initial hiccups, attending Scotch & Pitches was an inspiring experience. The energy, the innovative ideas, and the powerful stories made it all worthwhile. But wait a minute, I didn’t see Lawal O. and the Econome team at the event. I wonder why? It was great catching up with Calum Purdie and Beena Sharma at the event. Tag someone who was at the event. One last thing: which UK startup has been the most impressive for you? Please share in the comments. I was told that organising three events during Slush week was "quite ambitious". EASY PEASY, I thought at the time. With less than three weeks to go I must admit I may have been wrong 😅 And yet, I am VERY excited about all of it: getting to organise great events in the city I'm from, getting to see colleagues, partners, and other familiar faces and to invite the most exciting startups and investors. What are the events? 1️⃣ We are hosting an event together with the British Embassy at the Ambassador's Residence on Day 0, 19 November. The topic of the event is sustainability, but we welcome VCs and startups from other fields as well. You can find more information and a registration form here: https://lnkd.in/eMjrMwd6 2️⃣ We are organising a casual drinks reception in the evening of Day 1, 20 November for everyone either from the UK startup ecosystem or wanting to connect with it: we are expecting VCs, startups and scaleups, ecosystem players etc. from both the UK and all over the world. More information and registration here: https://lnkd.in/eH63J6Qv 3️⃣ We are hosting an invite-only breakfast event in the morning of Day 1, 20 November at 8am. The goal is to bring together 15 especially exciting scaleups interested in the UK market and 15 people from the British startup ecosystem. If you are interested in joining or know someone else you think we should invite, please let me know.
