INDUSTRY NEWS: mDLs close in on practical use with standardization, tests and reader demos Mobile driver's licenses (mDLs) are becoming more useful beyond proving driving privileges, with new standards enabling remote identity verification. The ISO/IEC TS 18013-7:2024 standard now supports mDL use for online identity claims, with updates planned for future browser-based verification. Companies like DIACC members FaceTec, Inc. and MATTR are playing a key role in advancing this technology. FaceTec, Inc.'s VP Andrew Hughes shared updates on mDLs and standards, while MATTR showcased a verifier for mDLs on standard payment devices. Both companies showcased their solutions at a major international event, demonstrating the growing practical use of mDLs across various applications. This progress shows how mDLs are set to transform digital identity verification! h/t Biometric Update Jay Meier Adam Lemmon #digitalID #mDL #identityverification https://lnkd.in/gDyZieUd

Our solution that can prevent fuel theft and return $$ linked to stolen fuel to retailers though a debt recovery processes is growing rapidly. Very pleased with the news that one of our customers just requested us to roll out this tech in over 200 new fuel stations owned and operated by them, taking the network using our theft prevention and debt recovery solution (Scancam) to over 600 stores. Our network that is combating theft has now grown 250% since we acquired Scancam 3 years ago and powered it with sensen.ai technology. I am also pleased to see more fuel retail brands and independent fuel station operators joining the network on a daily basis. The bigger the network, the greater the impact in addressing this social menace. Here is some good coverage in ConsumerWorld. #sensen #ai
Thanks #ConvenienceWorld for sharing how our #LiveAwareness technology is fighting fuel theft --it's a great example of the real world benefits that come from being at the cutting edge of #AI. Here's an excerpt from the story: SenSen is another innovator combating theft head on. In FY 2023 alone. SenSen's technology 1 said to have facilitated the recovery of more than 2.5 million for retailers, including 7-Eleven, Ampol, BP, Caltex. EG, Liberty, Metro, OTR, Puma, S24, United and Vibe. SenSen's solution, #Scancam, leverages the Live Awareness platform. integrating licence plate recognition (ANPR) technology and cloud-based monitoring to detect and deter fuel theft incidents in real lime.

FLASHBACK AND HISTORY: Years ago, in the mid 1990's, I led a U.S. Army DEVCOM Soldier Center collaboration effort entitled "Law Enforcement Advanced Protection" (circa 1996-2012). This effort was the then "Soldier Biological and Chemical Commands" Pre-911, post Clinton administration answer to create public-private partnerships. Hot at the time was the Natick Labs (as then known) Future Force Warrior program (refer to comments, below). The LEAP effort was part of the "National Protection Center Program" (NPC) I created for the boss and managed, a U.S. Army DEVCOM Soldier Center Army, Department of Justice and NASA funded effort. Subsequently we were joined by DHS Office of Science and Technology, and NIST. It was a great exercise in "politics, policy and science" that lived and died because of politics, policy and science (aka funding in the early Obama years dried out). A LOT was learned - good and oops. Late Senator Kennedy funded companies to help the Law Enforcement and dual use component of the effort for 3 years - not trivial, and so we were funding strong. Of that team, among other, the FIRST Law Enforcement CBRN Standard was born, and many, many other defense-responder relevant studies. At the time, exoskeletons were not prime time - RAYTHEON SARCOS was hiding behind the curtain, Exohiker wasn't the answer to any prayersyet (Oh baby baby how far it is come!), and other nascent efforts (BAE OLAD, etc.) weren't quite ready. HULC came close - but a series of misled choices, over engineering (REALLY OVERENGINEERING), hyperbole, lack of funding, no requirement, brought that concept to an end. TALOS effort took off where LEAP had left off. By then SBCCOM had changed names twice (although it will always be Natick Labs to us), and some weird decisions from the Pentagon and project managers did not yield what we hoped would have for exoskeletons (thankfully I have the unclassified historical data that could easily be used in a college level class on "lessons learned" what when well and what went wrong"). The TALOS M1C (Revision Military - Soldier Center) prototype comes as close to EXO-M as any product could have... but the story on how that one ended is also worthy of SMH moments. Ancient history as all this is, our surprise and wonder to see the visions we once had, come to fruition in the Mehler Protection - Mawashi Science & Technology (Mawashi was a TALOS contender, BTW). And as many naysayers that are out there will throw daggers, I am humbled that they have achieved a system thus far, and look forward to see it in action. Will it succeed where others didn't? Will it fail like others have? Let's stay tuned without judgment and see where it goes. Because if it GOES, it opens many doors for others to follow and it will provide a capability that is sought after like an Indiana Jones relic!
