RENEWAL OF THE TYPE III ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATION (EPD) At Vicinay Sestao, we have renewed our Type III EPD, which encompasses our entire product range. This document was developed by Vicinay Sestao with advisory support from Ingurumenaren Kideak Ingenieria and verified by Certinalia - Tecnalia Group for publication through EPD International AB. The Type III EPD provides a comprehensive view of a product's environmental impacts throughout its life cycle, reflecting our commitment to measure and reduce the environmental footprint of our solutions. Through this life-cycle assessment, Vicinay Sestao identifies areas for improvement and sets specific objectives as part of our green transition plan, reinforcing our dedication to sustainability at every step. #EPDTypeIII

Striving for sustainable procurement! 🍃📈 We are thrilled to introduce our PEIS (Product Environmental Impact Score) indicator that allows you to measure the environmental impact of your purchases! The environmental impact score is based on the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology developed by the European Commission. This approach considers 16 environmental indicators including carbon footprint, resource use, water pollution, human toxicity, etc. Through this approach, we aim to engage our suppliers in an eco-design process. 💚 You can find further information about this initiative and learn about our partner Glimpact over on our website (link in the comments section below). #ManutanUK

Nomination for the Baden-Wuerttemberg 2024 Environmental Award for Companies We are delighted that Chemische Werke Kluthe GmbH is one of the 19 companies nominated for the prestigious Baden-Wuerttemberg 2024 Environmental Award for Companies. These finalists were selected from a total of 104 applications after the award jury was able to see the companies' innovative ideas and measures for themselves during on-site visits. Sustainability and environmental protection are key issues that more and more companies in Baden-Wuerttemberg are focusing on in their activities. Since 1993, the state has awarded this prize to companies that act as pioneers in corporate environmental protection and sustainable management. For us at Kluthe, sustainable management is not a goal, but a basic principle. Our actions are based on the conviction that only a world in which the economy, the environment and the well-being of people are in harmony can offer a future worth living. That is why we integrate environmental and climate protection, resource conservation, a social corporate culture and sustainable supply chains into all our decisions. We would like to thank the jury, which is made up of representatives from business, environmental associations, scientific institutions and state politics, for this recognition of our work. We are proud to be part of this initiative and look forward to setting the course for a sustainable future with other pioneers. #kluthe #sustainability #nomination #environmentalaward

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵! Friends of the Earth (FotE) is a global environmental network that advocates for social and ecological justice. Its Dutch chapter, Milieudefensie, focuses on sustainable policies and environmental protection in the Netherlands. They campaign on issues such as climate change, biodiversity, pollution, and corporate accountability, often challenging governments and corporations to adopt sustainable practices. ⚖️🐝 Notably, Milieudefensie gained international attention for its landmark lawsuit against Shell in 2021, where Dutch District Court court ruled Shell must reduce its CO₂ emissions. This case recently went to the Court of Appeal. The group emphasizes grassroots activism, collaboration with communities, and policy advocacy to push for systemic environmental change. 👩⚖️🌿 The student project focuses on unraveling paper, pulp and viscose production in Indonesia. Firstly, it will focus on those responsible for and related to the production, that causes immense deforestation and forest fires. Secondly, it will focus on possible manufacturers linked to the production, that could be held accountable under the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive or other international (legal) frameworks. 🌳🇮🇩 #opensource #opensourceinvestigation #friendsoftheearth #milieudefensie #indonesia (@Danielle van Oijen)

🌟ECOS and standards appreciation post🌟 Last week I had the pleasure of attending a workshop run by ECOS in Brussels. ECOS is an international NGO with a network of members and experts advocating for environmentally friendly technical standards, policies and laws. Biodiversify has been working with ECOS for a while now providing expertise on all things biodiversity related. It was energising to meet a group of such passionate and knowledgeable people working on a diverse range of topics from sustainable tyres, to energy ratings of appliances, to soil health, to decarbonising cement and more. Here are some of my main takeaways and learnings: 🍃Standards come in many shapes and forms, from defining what size an A4 piece of paper is, to setting standards on the amount of clinker in cement, to energy ratings 🍃Standards are a very important tool in ensuring environmental protection. For example, they help foster technological developments and innovation, they influence consumer decision and they can help implement environmental legislation 🍃The EU is increasingly using standards as a tool for delivering legislation and policy 🍃ECOS are really making a different to get environmental protection at the forefront of standards, policy and legislation

Key Panel Discussion and Debate - Adopting a New Standard for Environmental Footprint Calculation Tuesday, 10th September 2024, 10:00 - 12:00 IMPA London Main Exhibition Hall https://lnkd.in/eMFShK8n This debate session will focus on the IMPA Maritime Environmental Footprint (IMEF) Initiative, a groundbreaking project that establishes a new standard for calculating and managing corporate environmental footprint. Industry experts will explore how this initiative sets a robust baseline for calculating Scope 3 emissions by adopting an activity-based approach, and how to correctly integrate carbon footprint data into key decision-making. Ambitiously aiming to once again unite maritime purchasers and suppliers in advancing sustainability under the umbrella of one common standard, the IMEF Initiative has already been endorsed by several leading maritime companies and is becoming a transformative movement that companies in maritime must explore. Panellists include Rasmus Elsborg-Jensen 🌱 - Reflow, Susan Wraae Koefoed - Weco Shipping & IMPA, Dorthe Mejlvang - Maersk Procurement, Mikael Karlsson - Northern Marine Group, Paolo Magonio - Scorpio Group, Filippa Strynbo - Maersk Procurement and Marinos Kokkinis - OneCare Solutions. Facilitated by IMPA's Secretary General Stephen Alexander and Head of Sustainability Jasmine Schestak, this is a session that cannot be missed. Register to attend IMPA London https://lnkd.in/e7sj6d8B

Did you miss the European Commission's online information session yesterday on the new Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation? If so, you can still watch the full session on the below link. Thanks to Matjaž Malgaj and his team for a time well spend to understand the most relevant parts of this game changing piece of legislation. Good to see the important role intended for the European Standardization Organizations, facilitating the implementation of the product specific sustainability requirements by drafting harmonized standards.
