🌫️ Understanding GRAP Stage IV: Fighting Air Pollution in Delhi 🌍 Delhi's air quality has severely deteriorated, triggering Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Here’s what this means and the measures in place to combat pollution: 🚛 Restrictions on Trucks: Ban on the entry of diesel trucks (except those carrying essential goods or running on LNG/CNG/electric power). 🚗 Diesel Vehicle Ban: Medium and heavy diesel vehicles registered in Delhi cannot operate, with a few essential service exceptions. 🏗️ Halt on Construction: All construction and demolition activities, including highways and flyovers, are suspended to reduce dust pollution. 💼 Workforce Management: Offices are advised to work at 50% capacity, with the rest working from home to minimize vehicular emissions. 🏫 Education Adjustments: Physical classes may be suspended for certain grades, shifting to online to protect children from exposure. How You Can Help: 🌱 Stay indoors, especially if you're vulnerable. 🌱 Use air purifiers to maintain clean indoor air. 🌱 Mask up when outdoors to limit inhalation of pollutants. Let’s work together to follow these measures and protect Delhi’s air and health. 🌍 Every effort counts! Delhi’s air quality is at severe levels, triggering GRAP Stage IV! Let’s act NOW for cleaner air. What steps are you taking to reduce pollution? With air quality levels in the national capital rapidly deteriorating, the Delhi government has activated Stage 2 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). This GRAP was developed to address the increasing pollution that grips the city every winter, largely due to stubble burning, vehicular emissions, and industrial activities. The annual decline in air quality not only impacts public health but also highlights the urgent need for long-term, sustainable solutions. As GRAP measures come into place, it's a reminder that coordinated action at all levels—government, businesses, and citizens—remains crucial. 🌿 Let's stand together in taking small, but significant actions to reduce our pollution footprint and work towards cleaner air for Delhi. #AirPollution #DelhiAirQuality #GRAPStage2 #CleanAir #Environment #SunSoilSustainability

Delhi's air quality has deteriorated again, prompting the reimposition of GRAP-3 (Graded Response Action Plan) restrictions to combat severe pollution levels. Authorities have taken immediate measures, including a hybrid learning model for schools up to Class 5, allowing parents to choose between online and offline classes. Additional restrictions under GRAP-3 include ban on construction and demolition activities, enhanced checks on industrial emissions and vehicular pollution. The national capital continues to struggle with high pollution levels caused by vehicular emissions, industrial activity, and seasonal stubble burning. In early November, a residential society in Gurugram sought to mimic rainfall using water sprinklers. Artificial rain, and its various 'forms' is often touted as the ideal solution to wash pollutants out of the atmosphere. But how viable is it and is it really a long-lasting solution to our pollution woes? Dr. Prakash Doraiswamy (Director, Air Quality) from WRI India explains the science and feasibility of artificial rain and delves into what it takes to improve air quality in the long-term. 32 Years of Air Pollution in India: A Visual Overview Did you know 80% of Indian cities have only one AQI station? The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recommends at least four stations per city, yet most cities fall short. Experts estimate that India would need at least 4,094 monitoring stations for adequate national coverage, but we operate with just 1,395 stations. Swipe to explore how emissions have evolved and why stronger air quality monitoring is critical for the future of India’s air! #AirPollution #IndiaAQI #SustainableFuture #CleanAir #DataMatters #ClimateAction

The alarming air pollution levels in Delhi are a wake-up call for all of us. With the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching dangerously high levels, the city is grappling with smog and its harmful effects on public health. This issue is no longer confined to one city—it’s a global crisis that demands immediate action. We need urgent interventions from both the government and citizens to combat this deadly pollution. While short-term solutions like reducing construction activities and limiting vehicle usage can offer relief, long-term strategies such as supporting renewable energy sources and improving urban planning are essential. Let’s raise awareness and take action before it’s too late! Delhi’s air quality has hit dangerous levels, with AQI crossing 1500. This pollution is affecting millions, especially children, with severe respiratory and health problems. #ClimateChange is no longer a distant issue; it's here, and it's urgent. #DelhiPollution #AirQualityCrisis #Smog #ClimateAction #RenewableEnergy #CleanAirNow #SustainableFuture #delhi #toxicair #lungscancer #adani #coal #particulatematter #lungscancer #repiratoryissue #health #plantation

The current state of Delhi’s air and water is not just alarming—it’s a public health emergency. With Air Quality Index (AQI) levels often exceeding 400 (marked as “Severe”), Delhi is consistently ranked among the world’s most polluted cities. According to a 2023 report by IQAir, Delhi's PM2.5 levels are nearly 20 times higher than the WHO’s recommended safe limits. Such toxic air leads to severe health issues, including respiratory diseases, heart complications, and reduced life expectancy. Water contamination adds to the crisis, with a 2022 study by the Central Pollution Control Board revealing that 66% of water samples in Delhi contained harmful levels of toxins. Residents are grappling with diseases like cholera, dysentery, and even long-term risks of kidney damage from heavy metal exposure. We cannot ignore the emotional toll this is taking on Delhi's citizens, especially its children. Imagine the frustration of a parent watching their child struggle to breathe or the despair of an elderly citizen confined indoors to avoid the toxic air. This is not a problem we can leave for future generations to solve. It is a call for immediate, collective action to be taken, 1. Promote Green Energy: Shift towards renewable energy sources and incentivize solar power adoption. 2. Improve Public Transport: Strengthen and expand eco-friendly public transport systems like electric buses and metro networks. 3. Implement Strict Regulations: Enforce stricter penalties for industrial emissions, waste burning, and vehicle pollution. 4. Urban Afforestation: Launch large-scale tree plantation drives and protect existing green belts. 5. Individual Contributions: Every citizen can adopt carpooling, reduce waste, and use energy-efficient appliances. Together, we can transform Delhi into a healthier, livable city. The time to act is now—because the question is no longer "Why live like this?" but "Why wait to change it?"
https://lnkd.in/gTQ5nrjB #AirPollution: Delhi is unliveable, choking its citizens with toxic air. Why live like this is the question in everybody's mind? The extremely poor quality of air, contaminated water has led to sharp decline in health of residents/visitors in Delhi. Why live like this?
