This year, our Glasgow Recycling and Renewable Energy Centre (GRREC) held a charity collection for “Glasgow’s No.1 Baby & Family Support Service” and the response was incredible! This charity supports vulnerable children, families and individuals throughout Glasgow, assisting them in meeting their basic daily needs. The charity was awarded WeShare funding from Viridor, and GRREC staff collected hundreds of new toys for their Christmas appeal, as well as clothes for their everyday appeal. Contractors were also invited to contribute and most of them generously donated toys or cash directly to our GoFundMe page, which to date is totalling over £4k! Audrey Dempsey, founder and service manager of the charity was blown away by the support, saying: “We are sincerely grateful for the incredible support Viridor has given our Christmas appeal this year. The community fund was like a god-send, exactly when it was needed, and the generosity of the staff who contributed to the toy drive is just priceless. "This kindness and support means the world to us, but more importantly it guarantees vulnerable children get amazing memories to cherish at Christmas. From the bottom of our hearts, and the hearts of Glasgow’s children, thank you for making this possible.🙏🏻” The charity provides all daily essentials, as well as furniture and household goods. Over the past seven years, it has supported 59,328 people in their everyday service and has enabled an additional 12,000 in its Christmas appeals for children who had been identified as high risk of waking to nothing on Christmas morning. Sadly, the numbers requiring the charity's help keep rising. To find out more, visit: https://lnkd.in/e6-eFByB
