National security, coalition warfare, and billions at stake - there's a lot to talk about in the federal government defense sphere. Welcome to The ZT Brief: your inside track on securing the federal government through zero-trust architecture. In our inaugural issue, we examine how the #SaltTyphoon breach exposed critical vulnerabilities in mandated backdoor systems, highlighting why true end-to-end encryption is crucial for national security. Join us as we explore the intersection of policy, technology, and security in protecting America's most sensitive data. WARNING: THIS POST WILL MAKE SOME ORGANISATIONS NERVOUS! Don't take our word for the increasing need for world-class cybersecurity, listen to the expert warnings today across the UK media https://lnkd.in/eW3ezbaw And we quote: '... the NCSC reveals a significant increase in serious cyberincidents over the past 12 months. Its annual review shows that the agency had responded to 430 incidents requiring its support between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024, compared with 371 in the previous 12 months. It says that 12 of those attacks were at the “top end of the scale” and were “more severe in nature” – a trebling from the previous year. “There is no room for complacency about the severity of state-led threats or the volume of the threat posed by cybercriminals,” Horne will say. “The defence and resilience of critical infrastructure, supply chains, the public sector and our wider economy must improve.” Last week the Cabinet Office minister, Pat McFadden, warned that Russia “can turn the lights off for millions of people” with a cyber-attack. Quoting the National Cyber Security Centre: "Every major organisation in the UK should have a plan for a cyber-attack hitting key infrastructure, according to Ciaran Martin, the former head of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, "and have a plan on how to deal with the loss of a major infrastructure network. The difference between being 50% functional within 24 hours of an attack and being offline for a fortnight is huge.” Frankly, I couldn't agree more.
