Ever felt stuck, like no matter what you do, things just don’t change? (Here’s the science behind why it happens) In the 1960s, psychologist Martin Seligman discovered something powerful: When we face repeated negative experiences that we can't control, we stop trying—even when a solution is right in front of us. He called this Learned Helplessness. A quick story: I once worked with someone who was incredibly talented, but after facing constant rejection, she stopped talking to her manager for her promotion. She felt helpless, convinced that nothing would change. It wasn't about her skills, but about the belief that her efforts didn’t matter anymore. What can we learn from this? Just like those dogs in Seligman’s experiments, we sometimes give up too early or don't even try because we’ve been burned by past failures. How to overcome learned helplessness: 1. Change your mindset: Understand that setbacks are temporary, not permanent. 2. Surround yourself with positive people who encourage you to keep going. #MindsetMatters #Leadership #LearnedHelplessness #PersonalGrowth #MentalHealth #Motivation #GrowthMindset #PsychologyInBusiness

Your past is not predictive of your future…your current behavior is. We often look back on our past, which brings up negative emotions. Maybe it’s shame or guilt. Maybe your past brings up regret for what you did or didn’t do. My philosophy is straightforward. Learn from the past and apply the lessons to create a better tomorrow. You may look back for ways to improve, but do not stare at your past mistakes. It will not serve you. I have openly shared the many mistakes and failures that came from my days in active alcoholism and addiction. I caused a lot of pain to in the lives of people I care deeply for I wish those things didn’t happen, but they did. My power comes from taking responsibility for my actions and changing my behavior to create a better tomorrow. Your past does not define you because you get to determine your future. Let’s learn and grow, and then it’s time to go forward and consume an amazing future. 🧠💪🏼✍🏻If you’re ready to improve the performance and leadership skills of your team and build the confidence that will enable you to achieve results, it’s time to talk. Why is vulnerability so hard? For a long time, I was afraid to let my guard down. Vulnerability felt like the opposite of strength, especially as a man who grew up believing I had to be "mighty" just to survive. Emotions? They were meant to be hidden—buried deep because showing them felt like a crack in my armor. But then I learned something that changed my life. Vulnerability isn’t weakness. In fact, it might be one of the strongest things you can embrace. It allows people to connect with you on a human level, to see your authenticity. The very thing I was scared to show became my greatest asset as a coach, as a leader, and as a man. We all have emotions and ways of thinking that we battle every day. And men, in particular, are often taught to suppress these feelings, to carry the weight of the world without breaking a sweat. But that weight eventually catches up, and it’s in those moments of vulnerability where real strength shows. So here’s my challenge—don’t be afraid to be vulnerable. **Start small:** 1. Acknowledge your emotions Recognize what you’re feeling rather than ignoring it. 2. Share your story – Talk to someone you trust about what’s on your mind. 3. Leverage vulnerability– Use it to build deeper connections and show your authentic self. We all face internal battles, but we don’t have to fight them alone. #VulnerabilityIsStrength #MensMentalHealth #MindsetMatters #LeadWithHeart #Authenticity #GrowthMindset #EmbraceChange #MentalHealthAwareness #EmotionalIntelligence #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #CoachingTransformation #MindsetMentor #MensWellbeing #BreakTheStigma

I ran a poll this week. On what people's top mindset challenges are (and what it would mean to them if they could move past them). The results were very revealing. As was the fact that a lot of people messaged me privately with their comments, rather than post in the comments of the poll. There's still a lot of discomfort talking about our blocks out loud and in public, isn't there? So, here are the results... 1. PROCRASTINATION 2. IMPOSTER SYNDROME 3. LACK OF CONFIDENCE 4 OVERWHELM 5. FEAR OF FAILING 6. FEAR OF GETTING VISIBLE 7. FEAR OF SUCCESS 8. MONEY MINDSET What do you think when you read this list? Are these things you relate to? Or would you add some other themes to leader board? Now, these are things (amongst others!) that I work with people on, on a daily basis. Change is not only possible. it might not be as hard as you think. Ready to give it a go and see for yourself? I have limited spots for 1:1 sessions but I have a couple open this month - get in touch for a chat and we can see what would be a good fit for you. #mindsetshifts #mindsetchange #growthmindset #cbt #mindsetcoaching #cbttherapy #personaldevelopment #personaldevelopmentjourney #personalgrowth #selfdevelopment #mindsetofsuccess #mindsetiskey

Too often we hold ourselves back from things because of a feeling, a past experience, or fear we will make a mistake, and not be accepted. When fear shows up face the “FACTS”. If it’s the unknown you fear, how would you feel if it all worked out vs never knowing because you never tried or spoke up? Be honest. Weigh the facts. Trust YOU are capable and may have the right answer or approach! #leadershipdevelopment #personaldevelopment

🚨 My $1 Million Mistake 🚨 As founders and leaders, we often face high-stakes decisions that can change the trajectory of our businesses…and our lives. Many years ago, I found myself in a courtroom, wrestling with emotions of anger and disbelief. In a moment of intensely triggered and heated emotion, I made a choice: I walked out. What happened next? Despite a ruling that had gone in my favor, the other party went back on previously agreed points. Instead of resolution, we plunged into a quagmire of extended negotiations and game-playing that ultimately cost me over $1 million 😨 This painful experience became a pivotal moment that taught me 3 crucial lessons that enabled me to rebuild stronger, and create a fulfilling and rewarding life: 1️⃣ Pause and Reflect It’s natural to feel triggered during conflict, but it's essential to recognize who’s in control during critical decisions. Taking a moment to stop and assess the situation can help us remain calm, strategic, and grounded when it matters most. 2️⃣ Confront, Don’t Avoid Dodging difficult conversations or challenges may provide short-term relief but leads to long-term pain. Embrace the philosophy of “eating the biggest frog first”…tackling what’s mission-critical today, whether in business or personal life, instead of postponing it to tomorrow or next week. 3️⃣ Don’t let temporary mistakes become permanent failures Mistakes are inevitable, but they can also offer some of the richest and most memorable lessons. Keep the lessons, leave the rest. What’s a lesson you’ve learned from a mistake?
